Making sure I have a low profile seat for cover

Post by harmony101017 »

I am going to order a cheeky seat cover for my Genuine Buddy 170i. I found a thread on it reading older posts.

I am fairly sure I have a low profile seat. Buying the buddy was kind of a blur but I know the dealer was intent on helping me get it as low as possible because I'm 5'0." The invoice says "buddy psycho seat" and it looks exactly like this one: http://www.automotivepartsfactory.com/p ... gIttfD_BwE

Just want to make sure I'm not screwing this up when I order the seat cover. I don't want to get the wrong cover and not be able to use it.

Also - the buddy is in my profile though it's a small somewhat blurry picture so not sure if that helps.

Looks like a low profile seat to me. The seat on my Buddy doesn't dip down that much.
Some people can break a crowbar in a sandbox.

Here're a few pic of the low profile "Psycho" seat... on my Psycho :)

To my eye it looks like you have the low profile seat.

By the way, although you may not have other options since you're trying to lower the saddle height, the low profile seat reduces the usable space in the pet carrier. The seat pan that the low profile seat is built on has a different shape than the stock Buddy seat. It may make the difference between fitting a full face helmet under the seat or not.

Someone here ... ah, found it! ... Jay (thatvwbus guy) was selling a low profile seat that he made by shaving down the foam on a stock seat.

He probably doesn't still have it, but if you find you need more space in the pet carrier and you don't need a ton of cushioning he can tell you how he did it. ;)
If this is your first day with PSYCHO, you have to ride.

Thank you that's helpful to know. I think I'm okay with it for now. My full face fits in the top box perfectly. The only thing I need to carry around so far is my small backpack and groceries. I go to the store almost every day (family of 8, 7 living at home) and can get what I need on the scooter pretty easily. I haven't even used the front rack yet so that's some additional room.

It does help to know that is the reason not much fits under my seat. But it's okay. It works and I am happy to be 5 foot nothing and be able to flat foot both feet at stops!

I contacted the cheeky seat people through the form on their website twice and then I emailed them, never got any response. I will eventually get around to calling I guess. The one I want isn't an option I can click on, I want a different color of the one listed on the buddy page so I need to talk to them to order it. I was super excited to do it when I found their site (from reading an old thread here) but the lack of response killed some of my enthusiasm.
