Tips for buying a used scooter

Post by Simo4181 »

Hey folks! I recently (few weeks ago) bought my wife a new 2016 Genuine Buddy 170i scooter and it is amazing. I love it. So much...that I have been searching for a used 2016 Genuine Buddy 170i scooter with low mileage and found one.

The used 2016 Genuine Buddy 170i scooter has 1,500 Miles and is going for $900. Crazy, I know...so I'm 99.9% sure I'm jumping at this deal!

But...is there anything I should know about buying a used scooter? Any tips from you folks?

Thanks, Chris

With the 170, the most important thing to do is be religious about checking the oil. Every week, even. Those engines tend to burn a bit of oil right from the factory, and have a tendency of failing catastrophically if you let the oil get too low.

$900 is a good buy on that scooter. Nicely done. On my 170i I checked the valves at 2,000 and again at 6,000. Both times the exhaust valve was tight. Intake was in spec both times. You might want to keep an eye on the valve clearance.
