Monkey Bike Returning

Post by New2Scoots »

I remember the Honda Monkey decades ago. It was 50cc but it's returning as a 125. Mechanically it's very much a Grom but with the look of the original Monkey. Not sure if it's coming to the USA but the way the Grom sold Honda would be stupid to not sell it in the USA.

Pretty cool. If you want a modern mini bike, get a Grom. If you want a retro mini bike, get a Monkey.

That's really cool! If they ever come to the US, I'd buy one. Will look nice sitting next to my '72 CT70.

Honda knows how to make a lovely retro! Man, that modern Monkey bike it so cool! It would sell like crazy in the US. Us old guys who remember them from way back and new riders that want something to kick around on. And RV owners!

OK - yeah - both are pretty nice bikes; Grom and new Monkey.
There is no denying that. And they can be tricked out even nicer (at least the Grom. I'm sure the same will hold true of the Monkey).
But there is something about both of them that makes me recoil.
I don't even want to see these, much less contemplate owning one.

If your serious about it really not ticking you boxes Christophers, I know why. The overall size. I could never get behind the Grom or the ZPro. Even worse is when the wife "surprised" me for my birthday with a Adly RT50 and it went to the thrift store not long after. If I wanted a small bike, it would be small in engine cc's but not in riding size. Yamaha R3 comes to mind. Heck, even our scooters are bigger. That Monkey bike is still super cool though.

I think you're right about all of that! :D
Even the Sym Wolf 150 is marginal somehow - even though, initially, the proportions look right - when you get on it and ride it, somehow it's not quite right!
I think that's why I was so enthusiastic about the Genuine 400C.

My wife HATES clowns and ventriloquist dolls. When Clownvis Presley came thru town and was done with the show, he hung out with the crowd. I ran over there in a second flat and did "party supplies" with him! Wife ran to the other side of the venue and missed out. I have a ventriloquist doll. It took her a loooong time to warm up to Lamont. He did peek over the shower stall when she was showering. Had to live in the garage for awhile. I warned him!

looks sweet...modern ct70 but with a grom 125cc fuel injected engine, updated tech and better looking than a grom...but only 50mph?...if they come out with a bigger engine kit for this it will be awesome fun...almost scary i bet

Wondering if that exhaust pipe is more restrictive than the Grom's. Groms on Youtube hit around 59-65 mph.
