Upgrades and Bug Reports

Post by ericalm »

Hi there.

MB has undergone some major upgrades and still needs a bit more work. Working on it. Apologies for being down for a few days without notice — had some server issues that required a complete overhaul.

I'm still reworking templates and getting all the features back. This was a big leap in the forum software for us.

That said, I wanted to get the forum back up and running ASAP. If you encounter any bugs, please reply here and I'll try to address them as quickly as possible. We're in "testing mode" at the moment, but need some forum activity to see what's working and what's not.

If you're having login issues, you may need to reset your password. Do so using the "forgot password" link on the login screen.

The forum style and interface will be updated but that is lower on the list than making sure everything's working properly. For now, it'll be a bit minimal. Spartan. Bare.

Thanks for your patience.

Looks good so far. I was able to create a post, and upload images to include with it. Had to recreate my signature and avatar, but that wasn't too painful.

Thanks for the update, and for your work on this forum.

Seems to be a bug in managing your profile....invalid characters in Facebook...here's a screenshot. Of course it could also just be a glitch in me ...let me know if I missed something... and congratulations on the new look of Modern Buddy! I wondered if it was this new browser I was using, or if I had stumbled behind the curtain into some forbidden zone...lol. Looks good so far...glad I found you guys... the blur, to me, is a rare and exotic breed of scooter compared to the ones I was previously very familiar with...my fav of those being the 2 stroke minerelli variants as I never could afford a kymco or similar upscale top notch chariot. The chinese minerelli clones seem almost bulletproof and are easily and readily modded...this 2007 Genuine Blur I acquired was already a 3rd or 4th owner one by the time it landed in my lap. I've had it for 8 years but was stored for the last 6 of these...just now riding it again after a hiatus with a female in Alabama...I have rebuilt it twice already, the second time, 2 weeks after the first time, due to failing to understand that too much oil, will BLOW your engine quicker than anything else! I'm still dealing with the repercussions, as the welded crankcase was never fully welded to perfection...they tried, now it's high temp JB Weld time to try and fix all the little oil leaks that have sprung up after attempting to jump Snake River Canyon last month (a rather nasty pothole on S. Main street I saw too late...) that'll have to suffice until I can afford new parts or learn to tig weld it to MY specifications... sorry, I know this probably isn't the best place for that bit o history, but, it is what it is...thanks again guys! Glad to be here!

For this, there shouldn’t be a space in your name. If you go to Settings in Facebook, look under username. It will display as:

Code: Select all

You want just the [username] part.

Is anyone having trouble with the forum recognizing you when you leave and come back? Do you have to login again despite checking “Remember me” when you previously logged in?

Had to make some changes to the cookies and can’t tell if it’s my browser settings or the forum not finding the cookie. Thanks!

Don't know of it's just me, but the "topics", "posts", and "last post" columns do not appear on the main page when I access the site via my phone (Samsung Galaxy). However, they do appear if I use my tablet (also a Samsung) or my laptop (Windows 8.1). I even tried the "use desktop site" option on the phone, but that does not solve the issue.

Not exactly an issue; that’s the way the responsive mobile templates are. We’ll be trying some others out, but right now we’re using the standard “base” templates. The others I’ve tried so far have other problems in terms of what’s shown and where things are on the page. If it’s not one thing!

One way to get around it is to view the site with the phone in landscape mode. Works on my devices!

Curly quotes are coming across obscured by spurious special characters. See towards the bottom of this thread for examples:

Same thing for me in landscape mode. No big deal.

Working on this. Fixes so far have done nothing… may have to clear out caches or something…

Just out of curiosity, on the old site I was no longer able to post photos because I had filled my quota(?). Is this going to be true on this new site? And am I the second oldest member here (behind jrsjr)? Lol. Thanks.

I increased the quota on that by quite a bit, I think. I’ll go back and check but IIRC, both that and file size limits were bumped.

I may be doing something wrong, but I think the search is not working properly. Whether I use the quick search or the advanced search, there seems to be a gap in the results. They are either very recent, maybe even only after the date of migration to the new server/software, or very old, circa 2008 or so. Anyone else see something similar?
