Accessories news!

Post by ScooterMonkey »

I just got back from my local Scooter shop Scooter Invasion. The owner Seth called Brett at Genuine while I was there & was told accessories are in!
They just got in & will take a couple days to be put into their stocking system then be shipped out to dealers.
I ordered my windshield, locking trunk(which I believe requires & comes w/ a chrome, black, or pink rack to be mounted on ), & a front chrome rack. They should be in the shop then on my Scoot sometime next week. :D

Yup, I got my Black125 from ScootInv. They're good folks...& the shop is about 2 blocks from my house :D
Congrats on your Buddy, I hope you enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying mine.
I've never been to Scootover, but I have to head down to Tucson this AM for some Union business so maybe I'll get over there & check it out.

I just called Genuine and they told me next week. So, they must have improved their supply line because the waiting time is now one week instead of two :-)

Does anyone know of any dealr with accessories in stock yet? I am on a notification list here in Minnesota. But the Genuine rep told me two week about a month ago. I really want the rear locking case and I would like to see the new longer mirrors they are going to make available.

They are in the Chicago warehouse and will be shipped to USA dealers via the orient express.

Accessories are supposedly being shipped!

Post by MNBuddy »

Here is what Bret Rattner at Genuine told me today. Interesting news about topcases for the cream scooter owners

Thank you for the email.

We are shipping accessories this week. We have topcases in black, pink,
sunset/orange. If you have a cream scooter, we'd recommend the black.

I hope this is helpful information!

Any news on this? I gathered that I won't be getting the accessories this week.... since they need to ship it out some time prior to today....

MetroScooter in Cincinnati just got some accessories in... I think most of them are spoken-for already, though.

I just called Genuine.. Guess the accessories won't make it to me this week. I think I might get it next week though... crossing my fingers.

Can I install the windshield myself or does the dealer have to do it?

You should be able to install the windshield.

Did you order directly from Genuine? If so, how? The accessories aren't on the Genuine or Scooterworks sites (which both need updating!).

Yup, I've drooled over them. Just wondering where he got them because he said he was in contact with Genuine (not the dealer) about their shipping.

Bonegirl or Angie is fine. Metro Scooter, where I purchased the Buddy, has the accessories in. The windshields were shipped to them from Chicago as well and will be in tomorrow. That's the only other thing I need right now. We are going to try to ride once it gets colder so I think I want the bigger windshield to give me a little more protection. I like the smaller one but the larger one looks like it will protect my fingers a little better from the cold.

As a side note, I paid $109/top case and $49.95/black rear rack.

Also took a brief ride a second ago and the top case lid rattles a little. I'm going to check with the dealer and ask about it before I put a layer of something between the lid and bottom to keep them from doing this.

Angie;

Just wanted to say again that the Pink Trunk looks great!
And I'm glade to hear the news of the parts have finaly arrived.
I was also spying that rear rack I think I want one, but no trunk for me.
By the way my wife has a People 150 and opted for the full size windshield because the dealer recommended the full over the smaller one – he said that only the larger one offers any protection – the wife has been very happy with that decision.

Sweet! Thanks a lot for telling me about her windshield.

I think the case will come in handy for some fun trips we take to craft shows, farmers markets, etc. We are driving the truck to the Rally with the scoots in a trailer but now that I have the case I could easily pack a bunch of stuff and take a weekend trip and be able to carry all my gear.

I picked up my orange topcase and black rack today from Metro Scooter also. I noticed the rattle on the way home from there. I think too that it must be the lid hitting the bottom. Some foam around the edge may do the trick. Let me know what Seth says.

The pink top looks almost as good as my orange one :P

Orange vs Pink

"Put up or shut up"! Let's see the pics and compare. Tee! Hee! 8)

We were there about 4:30. Sorry we missed you.

I'll let Seth take a look at it this weekend at the Columbus Rally.

Ok, not the best picture in the world since you put me on the spot. I will take some better ones tomorrow when it is nice and sunny out.

I probably had just left Metro when you showed up.

The only rack Seth had in today was the black and I was thinking about the chrome. I also wasn't sure about the flat black. My husband wants the black in the front and back so we just decided to get it and let me try it this weekend. I still want to check out the chrome when I stop back in Metro next week. The black looks really good on yours...and the top case...can we call it a draw for now? :?:

Yeah I think the black looks better on the orange then the chrome would.

Call it a draw eh? Well they are Buddys, so they both look pretty good!

Black back on top cases

Post by BoneGirl »

I wasn't too excited at first about the black on the back of the top case but it will definately keep the color from getting all scratched up from passengers, backpacks, fanny packs, etc. I'm guessing that has something to do with it. It's just a hard plastic with a grain to it.

reflective material

Post by BoneGirl »

I bought a couple rolls of reflective tape at Walmart (also Meijer or other big store) one is 1 1/2" wide and the other 1". I also found sheets of reflective paper at a local hardware store. The red piece on the back of the top case is some kind of tacky feeling material that doesn't seem to be reflective. I'm going to remove it and replace with white reflective that should really show up well at night!

I am looking forward to seeing the windshields. I have a serious aversion to cold weather, so extra wind protection is a "must have" for me. Guess it's time to contact my local dealer and see if/when he's getting some accesories in...

What are the dimensions of the topcase? I'm looking for something to haul groceries, and am thinking a basket might be better. What do you think; how much would the topcase hold?

Thanks!

Top Case vs basket

Post by BoneGirl »

The top case holds my full face helmet and nothing else if that gives you a clue. My husband plans on getting both but I like the look of my Buddy without stuff hanging off the front. Until I need more room I'm gonna' try just the top case for now.

Milk Crate

Post by BoneGirl »

There's only about 6" of flat space so you would have to bolt it down; bungees alone wouldn't hold it.

My dealer called and my accessories (windscreen, top case) are here!!!!!

Anyone got the windscreen? I am wondering if it's something that I can install myself. If so, what tools do I need?
