Horn upgrade

Post by Davek »

Anyone upgraded the horn on their Blur? I'm curious if the stock one is a lower end Stebel or just something generic, and if a Stebel Nautilus or Magnum (or some other louder horn) would fit.

The stock horn in the Blur is just a generic "diaphram" type horn - very simular to a VW Beetle horn - and not any louder. The Stebel Nautilus horn, on the other hand, is an air horn with a built-in compact compressor and is much louder. The Magnum is a larger and louder version of the stock Blur horn, but not as loud as the Nautilus. Either one should fit in place of the stock horn since there's plenty of space under the front cover. If installing the Nautilus, remember to power it through a relay and not the stock horn button wiring since the Nautilus draws a lot more current than the stock horn and might cause a problem with burning the horn button contacts.
