Ordered my 2008 Rattler 110 today!

I already have a few basic mods planned out. First, I'm going to throw a set of Michelin Reggaes on it. My Typhoon has them (great tire). I'm used to knobby tires, and would feel more comfortable riding on them seeing as I ride through the winter.
Because the Rattler's front tire is a bit low-profile, I might have to remove the fender. I'm wondering if I can replace it with Roughhouse fender--it's higher up on the bike.
I also already ordered another Gorilla alarm system. I strongly recommend this alarm for anybody looking for one.
I doubt that I'll ever be doing any Performance modifications, for I'm just moving up from a 49cc. For now, the Rattler's power is plenty for me.
I'm excited to be a new member of the Genuine group. I only wish that the company would be more popular in Massachusetts. There are no dealers in this state. I'll do every thing I can to spead the word!

Great experience (All Outdoor Cycles in Manchester, NH). The ONLY dealer I've ever been to that allowed me to test drive a scooter for as long as I wanted to. I was VERY comfortable with them. They had no problem with letting me crawl under it and inspect for about forty minutes. I told them about a Vespa S that I was also interested in, and they encouraged me to be sure to check it out. They seemed confident that my making a thoroughly informed decision would bring me back to the Rattler--and it did.
When I visted the Vespa dealership, I felt rushed and uncomfortable, as if I was going to be responsible for their Latte' getting cold.
When GENUINE decided on a name for their company, they were right on!

I'm sorry to say but the Reggae doesn't come in the wheel size of the Rattler. Rattlers are 12" or 13"? the Reggae only comes in 10" rim sizes.

Those are incorrect - it's amazing that Genuine has the sizes wrong on their own site:

I looked at my scoot last night and the tire sizes are 120/70-12 and 130/70-12

Oh well, I'm sure I'll find something more rugged in the correct size. First and most important plan of action is to get the scooter broken in. I'll worry about tires later in the summer.

This is disturbing, I was just pricing 10" tires last week!

They need to update there specs like yesterday.

Yeah... I was just about to purchase the Reggaes. The Michelin Pilot seems like a nice tire.

I'm a big fan of most Michelins. The Vespa GT riders seem to really like the pilot city tires. There are also a few more 'all terrain' tires made by Schwalbe and Heidenau that you can order from Scooter Center. But the Euro being so strong and shipping not getting any cheaper, it could be an expensive endeavor.

I checked those tires out--pretty beefy. Are they at the same quality level as Michelin?

I don't have first hand knowledge. But I think I've read they were well reviewed. I'd give the Michelin pilot city tires a shot before spending 200 euro (320 USD) on getting a pair over here. shipping is around 23 euro for the first Kg and about 2-3 euro for each additional Kg. To be honest I don't think the knobbie tread is confidence building. I think the good rubber michelin uses makes the difference. I've used Michelin Dexters (I don't think they are made anymore and I don't think in 12" rim size) and they have a similar pattern to the Pilot sport City and they were awesome. I also like Continental Zippy 1s but they are much more of a sport tread but I found they handled great in just about every situation. Again, that was on 10" rims so I don't know how they'd handle on 12s.

I just looked up the dexter and found that Scooter Shop in Orange Calif. sells the heidenaus! I don't know if they actually have them but you could try.

Stock tires are pretty good too. I know they aren't knobby, but would you put BFG AllTerrains on a Lotus Elise? I haven't had any issues with mine. Plus I'd have to think you stand a greater chance of vibration at high speeds with knobbies on it... it is faster than you old scoots. With the smaller size of scooter tires I don't know if you could get a good balance done on them either. Just my .02

Michelin Pilot seems like a decent choice. The treads are not too knobbi-ish like the Reggae. I agree, the heavy knobbies would probably make for a rough ride.
