cream soda... its the only way of life.
If Stewart's went up to $7.50 for a 4-pack, I guess I'd have to settle for IBC  .

They have this root bear at a bar down the street from my shop that's freaking amazing. I'll have to go get one for the name of who makes it. It's worth 1.75 a bottle. (if you get them while you're there eating or watching the game they only charge you $.75 for a refill).

But I agree, IBC is the PBR of root beer.

between hop and wheat shortages, it will only get worse. I would rather drink one fine micro or import than 3 mass produced beers. The big brewers are under long term contract with hops suppliers so they are not feeling the pinch as much as the little guys.

Dogfish Head 90 IPA's per week too. I'll survive!

Beer, wine, I enjoy both regularly! :) My husband brews his own amazing beers and we've definitely noticed how much more expensive hops and grain have become. Still worth it though.

Yep. Brewing my own is my answer. Just kegged up a Kolsch this afternoon in fact (got started a little late on the summer brews).

And I have to agree on the props for the 90min. One of the best without doubt.

+1

When I can brew 2 cases of my own for about $25 compared to $44 for 2 cases of any mass produced quality beer. And no that does not include anything from Bud, Coors, or Miller. :bleh:

Yea, you can brew your own gas from water, sugar, and yeast, or if you dont mind spending more for faster gas, buy a 12 pack of beer and just pour it in, the dilation process and fermentation already happened, so it's even quicker.

Oh yeah, i forgot, this makes ethonal fuel, so if you have a car which runs off pure ethonal or something else, 5000 dollars a pump may just be the right price for you!

Why are people talking about GAS again? I believe there are already plenty of threads about that...

I think we were talking about beer? I hardly ever drink, and the only beer I've ever liked (unless you count ciders) is Bare Knuckle. It's real dark, you can't see through the glass at all... kinda like black coffee. Good flavor too. I'm not sure if it's only local, but they have it at Brews Brothers (along with about 150 other beers on tap). I really only go there for the trivia. They have a good raspberry pale ale too... Of course, who really remembers how much drinks cost? Not I. 8)

As far as rootbeer goes, we have an Irish pub in town (McGuire's) that makes their own and it's quite tasty. If you like nachos, you will also wan to get some there -- chips, beef, cheese, beans, olives, chips, cheese, lettuce, tomato, cheese, chips, sour cream, jalepenos, cheese... stacked about a foot high (not exaggerating). mmmm.

Those threads are about gas PRICES. This is (sidetracked) about making your own. hehehe

Back to beer: Anyone else agree that New Castle Brown is far and away the best beer on the planet? I would pay triple for it (just wouldn't buy it as often).

Now that I can get Fat Tire here (finally!)((the go-to brew of Midwest disc golfers)) I am mostly content. Also like their Mothership Wit.

I still can't have my New Glarus Spotted Cow as often as I'd like. A friend of mine makes 5-6 trips to Wisconsin a year, so he stocks up when he goes.

And I always have my Mrs. Smith (half Wigged Pig Wheat/hald Off the Rail Pale Ale) down at Bluecat Brew Pub.

... now i need a beer.

I don't drink beer, but if I quit drinking wine I could buy a Buddy in a few months with the extra cash. That being said, if my favorite wine tripled in price, I couldn't afford to drink it and I would be on the hunt for something cheaper. Being on the hunt for something new at a great deal is one of my favorite parts anyway.

Hey Krusty,

I knew there was something in the mirror but I was afraid to ask. I was thinking that it was another picture of you, Ha. Cool pic anyways.

Fat tire is very drinkable to me. When I'm driving, and this is probably old news, but I 've had some Jones: Sweetened with Pure Cane Sugar
"Fufu Berry" and this was good too.

Fat Tire is only out west, I think now they're trying to head a bit east, but not past Wisconsin yet because they can't really keep up. They have another beer called Skinney Dip that is DELISH! If you ever get to Fort Collins Colorado, go tour the New Belgium Brewery where they make Fat Tire and lots more. The tour and beer tasting is really fun, heck the building alone is worth seeing, not to mention the parking lot is full of scooters and bicycles. this is one kick ass micro-brewery. Although not too long from now I don't think it will be considered"micro".

Someone mentioned Bare Knuckle Stout in one of these posts. Hate to tell you this, but it's produced by Anheuser-Busch, but it is yummy and the tap handle is pretty cute too.

Ditto for Shocktop (Anheuser-Busch), which I begrudgingly enjoy from time to time. Same for Blue Moon (Coors). I love the Belgian White brews.

Also Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy as it's the closest thing I get here to the the Lowenbrau Rattler my wife brought me from Germany. I've heard it's available in the U.S., just not the part of the U.S. I'm in.

Impossible to say. One vine may produce 20 pounds of grapes, while another only produces 5. It's all about the "poundage".

Meh...*shrug*...the price of beer isn't a big deal to me, since I'm a two-drink drunk. I like the fancy-pants beer when I do drink -- some call it Yuppie Brau. Now, if something were to happen to the price of coffee, then I'd be the first on the black market, wheelin & dealin to secure my fix.

I got mine from 4 vines, but they grow on a 9' tall arbor (I pick them from a ladder). Last year was a very good year. Usually I'm lucky to get half that many.

Haha! Yeah, I'd like to blame it on the birds; they do get a few. But I think the biggest problem is just general lack of care, inadequate watering, etc. My wife thinks I should spend less time on my scooter and more time working in the yard...

I've been brewing my own beer for about three years now.

It's not really a whole lot cheaper than buying it, but I like experimenting with
different hops, yeasts and flavorings.

I usually make a honey pale ale (my fav) but I did make a honey cranberry last Christmas
that wasn't bad (but not great)
& I've added hazelnut extract (which is yummy in the correct ratio).

The downside to experimenting is:
It takes almost 6 weeks from boiling to 'finishing' to find out if your
36 - 16 oz bottles of beer suck. :bleh:

I can honestly say that I can hear my latest batch fermenting in the next room as I am writing these words.
It makes a 'splork' sound as the built-up pressure releases out the air lock.

Fun.
