Help wiht exposed metal parts

Post by sparty »

I scratched up my muffler a few months ago... i didn't think much of it, but now it's a little rusted up. I hope it's not too late to fix it... is there something I can paint it over with that will stop the rusting? Or do I need to bring it back to my dealer?

I would sand it and repaint it with high temp spray paint. You should be able to find it fairly easily. It is also used on BBQs, radiators, wood burning stoves....

Your dealer probably won't be able to do anything other than charge you for a new muffler, since it is not defective, I don't see the point.
You do have a few possible choices though........
You can go to an automotive supply store (Pep boys etc.) and get either engine block paint or brake caliper paint, get the one with the highest temp rating.
The other alternative is at any good hardware store, it is a high temperature bbq grill paint.
Just clean up the rust and paint.
Have fun in life, doing whatever you do whenever you do it.
