Not sure what to do....

Post by brimstone »

so i have an interesting problem with my 110. the other day i notice oil on the bottom of the engine...like it's been leaking while i drive. and i've noticed it "backfires" after i shut it off....only once though. i'll hit the kill switch and then *cough*. it runs fine though, off idle and WOT is fine. when i first got it, i messed with the idle screw cause it was dying at stop lights but the problem went away, is it possible it's running to rich still? thanks for the help guys.

I noticed the same on mine, but I believe mine was due to a missing exhaust bolt while the remaining one loosened up just a bit. I never had the backfiring though

i get the same little cough when shutting down, but it runs great. im not real sure what that is. my engine is clean also. 2 strokes are known to be oily engines, thats just how they are. i wouldnt worry too much about a little bit of oil if its running fine

I had the leak too, posted it here:

Ran by the dealer and fixed me up in 15 minutes for free, completely dry now.

I just noticed that my exhaust port bolts were also loose.
I'm currently in the process of removing the wheels to change over to HF 903 tires, so I had to remove the exhaust and rear fender. I'll probably use a bit of lock-tite blue when I replace everything. I first need to find out if lock-tite withstands high temperatures.
I should have the scoot back together with the HF 903s and my new green Roughhouse panels (to be delivered any time now) before the weekend :D .

Before you use the high temp lock tight you might want to consider nord-lock washers. They resist vibration and have keep my exhaust bolts tight going on 1 year now.

I used lock washers and hi-temp locktite when I put mine back on. I don't think the blue locktite is meant for high temps.

blue loctite is good to 300°F
red just says high tempurature.

if i was going to use loctite i would use the red. if you ever want to remove it run the scooter for a while and heat it up good, then try to remove the nut

personally i like lock washers better for somethign like that or even metal locking nuts
