PRIMA PIPE OWNERS, I NEED YOUR SUGGESTION...

Post by rattler350 »

IM GETTING A PRIMA PIPE FROM ONE OF THE MEMBERS HERE FOR MY BUCK TEN. I WANT MORE TAKE OFF FOR WHEELIES AND MID RANGE, BUT DONT WANT TO KILL THE TOP END. WHAT ARE YOUR SUGGESTIONS?
MAYBE STOCK ROLLERS? 10GRAM? 8 GRAM? HOW ABOUT THE SPRING? 1000RPM, 1500RPM, OR 2000RPM?

I'VE HEARD 8 GRAMS, BUT IM AFRAID IT WILL KILL MY TOP END.....

 :P

2000 rpm Spring, do one thing at a time so you can see what makes the difference.

I just swapped in 8gs with my setup (Prima, 2k spring) and while it was nice off the line, but I lost probably 4mph up top compared to my 10g setup, but my 10g setup had 1 different roller of unknown weight so who knows (maybe it's a 12g? - see bottom 3 in pic).

I swapped in 3 good 10s for 3 of the 8s so I guess I have a 9g setup right now. I won't be able to test it til the morning commute though.

FWIW, I weigh 160lbs

Well I rode in w/ the 9g (3 8s, 3 10s) setup. It's definitely a little bit slower off the line then the 8s, hard to say compared to 10s. Top speed was off maybe 2mph compared to 10s.

I'll probably keep it like this for a while to get more of an idea - prob going to order one of those multi weight kits off of ebay and experiment with them

COOL, SOUNDS GOOD. I WILL TRY MY STOCK 9G AND GO FROM THERE. I WILL LET YOU KNOW. BONE STOCK I CAN DO EASY WHEELIES, BUT I HAVE TO PULL ON THE BARS A GOOD BIT. WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE PIPE WHEN I INSTALL IT.....

same here w/ the 10s. Probably easier with the 8s but I didn't try.

After riding it home I like the 9s and am going to keep it like this.
