Yesterday we had some friends over and grilled and had a real-life picnic. outside, grilling, sitting on blankets, everything except the scoot, but I could have brought that in if we were doing it tonight instead of had-it-already-last-night.

oh well, I'll try to get the hubs to have a picnic lunch with me one day this week.

Congrats sikken;

NSR, but you might want to check the bbq hose. The tank appears to be stressing it out. THen again, in the US alone there are probably half of the bottles hanging just like that one and they are doing just fine.

Geez, I hope you don't get offended by my suggestions.

SL....can I assume that FRESH BLUEBERRIES are acceptable? Or must it be blueberry pie, blueberry muffins, or something made with blueberries?

Before I head out for my entry...I want to be ABSOLUTELY certain fresh blueberries will not get kicked out!! The "product" word has me wondering????

And here we go again. Everything except FIRST. 13 Points.

Here's the photo of my scooter picnic. They didn't like the urban picnic, so her is another national park - World's End - part of the Boston Harbor Islands National Park. Here's the link to their brochure. Worlds End is the part on the bottom right that isn't actually an island but is still part of the national park. Looks like an hour glass. http://tinyurl.com/6bybmv

Image

The sign - proves where I had the picnic.

Image

And the picnic itself. LARGER bear, scooter, national park, grill, ice cream, me.

I hope that's Rockwell enough for those picnic purists about.

The first one had a gritty realism (and laziness) that you can't buy at Rite-Aid.

But I GUESS this one is a LITTLE bit better. Now if I could stop felling like bugs are crawling all over me.

Thanks for the retake
That looks like a picnic. So glad you braved the rugged elements.
I hope you didn't spend a long time sitting on the ground. There are probably a lot of tics this time of year...
Ya know they burrow into your skin.
Did you check when you got home?
I wouldn't worry about it... Forget I brought it up.

Haven't been posting the last few hours because I I've been scrubbing every inch of my body with wire brushes.

I've also bathed in some kerosene and took a handful of Cipro.

I should be fine once the double vision goes away and the top layer of my skin grows back.

Stupid ticks.

Thanks for bringing it up.

Deer, coyotes, coons, wild turkeys and a variety of bugs large and small.
Does not sound like your kind of place sotied.

5 points for picture of you with your scooter participating in a picnic
+1 point if there's a teddy bear in the picture
+2 points if your eating ice cream

8 points for me :D

I forgot to take the grill with me. Will probably repost later in the week. It got dark a little quicker than I thought it would too

Oh Well not to bad of a picture... I could eat my homemade orange ice cream all the time, so maybe another picture isn't such a bad thing

Well, I guess I'd better post something since this week's topic was my idea....

Here I'm having a picnic in the Fort Washington National Park.

+5 points me and my scooter participating in a picnic
+1 point for teddy bear
+3 points for National Park
+2 points eating hot dogs, baked beans, and blueberries
+2 points for grill in picture
total 13 points

This was interesting getting to. I actually had to drive 4 miles on the interstate and cross the Woodrow Wilson bridge (large busy bridge over the Potomac on the Beltway(I495)).

My scooter didn't have much of an appetite for the hot dogs, baked beans, and blueberries, so afterwards I took her out for dessert - of the premium high octane kind. She seemed to enjoy that - even though she didn't consume much....... ;-)

Wow!!!! After last week’s anxiety-filled hunt dodging security, this one was a “walk in the park” <pun intended>

I actually got to visit a couple of places nearby that I’ve not been to in the entire 30 years I’ve lived in this area. I spent Saturday cruising to and around two battlefields in the Richmond National Battlefield Parks units. So, here’s my entry for this week … me eating blueberries with the Pinkster, two bears and the grill at Cold Harbor Battlefield. :)

PLUS… for all you history buffs, I even put together a bonus video! Keep in mind… Richmond was the Capital of the Confederacy, so all you “damn Yankees”, please don’t be offended!

Bonus video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5pF3zbVD_4
(Sorry, some of the info markers are really small, but if you view in full screen mode, you can read parts of them.)

+5 points for picture of you with your scooter participating in a picnic
+1 point if there's a teddy bear in the picture (two teddy bears in fact!)
+3 points if it’s in a NATIONAL park (two different Battlefields)
+2 points if you’re eating a Hot Dog, Baked Beans, Blueberry (product), or ice cream
+2 points if there's a barbeque grill in the picture
13 points TOTAL

Were I a bitter scooterist (is there such a thing?) I might call OScoot on the large amount of pavement in her 'picnic' photo. Especially after my first URBAN picnic was run out of town on a rail.

BUT, as OScoot has done the entire Mission Impossible/Ocean's 11 and Thomas Crown Affair rolled into one when she avoided being caught during last week's hunt, I won't say a word other than,

"good work. And two bears is going above and beyond! Kudos."

Oh sotied, sotied, sotied ....did one of those bugs you sat on crawl up your #$%?

Sorry I couldn't face the other direction with the park behind me and still get the sign in the photo...but I can assure you it's IN the park....just at the entrance. In fact, here's the park ranger and the spot circled in yellow where the photo was taken.

Now, you poor thang......go get that bug outta your hind parts!

Well you can still do a pic...
The national park is only for 3 bonus points

Everyone gets that right?
Your photograph does not have to be in a national park.

Hoping week 9 is a photo with the longest street sign or town name sign. Point for each letter.

Or a photo of your scoot on the longest stretch of open road with no other vehicles in sight.

Or "quality time with your scoot" - a photo of you making a repair or adding some groovy new schwag to your scoot.

Or even Scoot in a drive-through. No McD's or BK's, but anything else goes. One point for each food item in your bag.

Hmmm. Maybe a photo of me with my scoot in the psychologist's chair/couch.

Any tips?

Well, yeah, Redbud is still pretty new. I've only had it for about 14 months and just under 3000 miles. It got really muddy from all the road construction around here so I had to take the hose to it last week.

Oh, BTW, I saw an actual BUG ON OUR BLANKET while we were picnicing! Hugme Bear was soooo distressed...

+5 - Bonheur and I at the picnic.

See? Mini Pooh qualifies as a full-fledged bear.

Mmmm. Now I'm hungry. May need to go find some Big Macs. No, they're not food for bears, but I couldn't bear it if I didn't have one...or two.

No national park, but I did manage to wrangle a couple mountain lions into the picture. And no fat comments, they're sensitive about that! That goes for me too!

Tried to get them to "ride" the scooter, but they wanted nothing to do with it... or the teddy bear for that matter.

+5 for me & scooter having a pic-a-nic
+1 for a teddy bear (MY original teddy bear who was also both my older brothers' teddy bear)
+3 for a National Park (this is at the Roger Williams National Memorial which is located in the John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor which is a "non-traditional National Park" http://www.nps.gov/blac/)
+2 for me eating Jersey blueberries
= 11 pts

My first real job (the kind that requires paperwork and W2 forms and stuff) was working two years on a blueberry farm in New Jersey. I made sure the blueberries in the picture are from a Hammonton, NJ co-op. I used to pack them by putting the rubber band over the cellophane cover (remember when?). What an awful job.
