What kind of gear oil do you use?

Post by ledge »

Hi all,
Just wondering what your favorite gear oil is for the Rattler 110. I'm at the 200 mile mark and it's time to change it out. Suggestions???

I use Ipone. That's what the dealer gave me. I haven't even needed to open the bottle yet. It's been 400 miles since my maintenance. I swear the strawberry-cented oil fairy filled it up for me once. I was under the impression that you're supposed to fill up after every couple gas tank fill-ups, but it doesn't seem like the level has dropped much at all.

I haven't noticed anything spectacular about it, except that the exhaust doesn't smell very much. But then again, this is my first scooter, so I don't really have experience with other oil.

I use Royal Purple. I was not really discriminating, did not do any research. I asked the Mechanic at the dealer. He rattled off a few brands, I remembered Royal Purple.

Buy the tube. It will save you the hassle of measuring the damn stuff. I used Amsoil. Royal Purple is awesome stuff. Synthetic seems to be the way to go with the gear oil based on what MB, genuinerattler members have used. The important thing is to ride it more after you change it :D
