Broke the 1000 mile mark.

Post by marsturm »

After today's ride I now have 1,024 miles on my 08 Buddy. I purchased Pequena on 6/5/08.

It's fun to hit 1k, right? I think I'm at around 2400. 2k wasn't quite as cool. 2k was kind of like turning 30. You know it just means your scooter is maturing and coming into its own but you still kind of wish it was still in the 1k's.

I think the more miles the better, I've got over 4k on mine now, and each mile means more experience and more time I've had to enjoy my Buddy.

Congrats on hitting 1k!

I plan on blowing past 1K this weekend ...
I suppose I should be upset, even feel violated, but I'm not. No, in fact, I think this is a friendly message, like "Hey, wanna play?" and yes I want to play. I really really do.

Wow 4k already! That's great!!

How long have you had it? You're putting miles on pretty fast- how does the Buddy seem to be taking it?

I've had it since the first week of March, so yeah I'm putting them on quickly. I've got a 50 mile round trip commute every day which accounts for alot of that. It seems to be taking it awesome, it seems to be much more peppy than most of the other Buddy's my friends have and has been an amazing commuter-scooter so far. I look forward to seeing how well it holds up to my abuse in the future!

I made it to ~1250 today. I really like driving my scooter. It's more than fun, it's 30 mins of quiet time to clear my head to and from work.

Haven't broken it yet, but definitely noticed a difference in my Vino 125 when it got to about 1500 miles. It seemed to run better, not so stiff. Now with 2500 on it its better than ever. Hope Buddy does the same.

I'm curious now. I wonder whether anyone has ridden their Buddies past 10,000. The reason I ask is I'm curious as to how well these scoots would take than much mileage and then some. I've justified to myself that if I ride a scooter, that gets 75 mpg, instead of my car, that gets a little over 25 mpg, then with the prices of the gas as it is now, I would have to drive the scooter for 30,000 miles (instead of putting those miles on the car) to have it pay off for itself.

All of it is notwithstanding the chances that I'll actually end up with more riding mileage than I would have had otherwise with the car (so that any gas savings is negated by more miles on the scooter) and the prices of the gas stays the same - obviously the higher prices on gas, the more the savings.

Double 30,000 or 10,000? Double 30,000 would be impressive and if I can get that ridden instead of driven, then I would have justified the purchase on saving gas alone and then some. Perhaps if I achieve that milestone, I'll buy another scooter. :)

Theres several people with over 20k on their Buddies. Alix being one of them, and she has probably put the hardest miles any Buddy has gotten!

Bought my St Tropez near the end of May. I'll pass 2k miles tomorrow on my way to work. Unfortunately crash at about 990 miles. I don't plan any such occurrence tomorrow.

1000 mile mark

Post by spinbud »

Any maintenance issues? I'm at 1100 buddy miles and no problems. Definately different than when new. Beefier sound, a little more vibration. Topped out at 60 mph today, first time I've twisted the throttle beyond 1/2 way,(break-in). Too light in weight to go any faster-safely. Most interested in the kind of mechanical issues for you long riders. Thanks

In general, if you keep it maintained properly, keep it stock, and don;t ride like a maniac, no. I asked Bonegirl about this when she topped 20K and she said she just stuck to the maintenance schedule and was good to go.

I hit 1K this weekend, too!!! Bought mine at the end of April. Very exciting. As a gift to her, I'm getting her a cowl protector. In winter, I'm also upgrading shock/strut and front fork. Yeah!!!

Did you take it at the place on Fredricksburg Rd? Also, congrats on 1k. I'll cross that mark tomorrow on my way to work.

I was fortunate enough to met and hang out with Alix this weekend when she was in Cleveland. Very cool person. I got to see the infamous P.E.A.C.E Buddy. The odo was 5 miles shy of 22,000 miles! That's in one year folks! That really makes me feel good about choosing the Buddy.
