Rattler and Gravel

So im getting my rattler in a couple of days and i was wondering how it does on gravel or dirt roads. I live in a town of about 1500 people and comute to the next town for work. the quickest way to get there is backroads but about 8 miles of it is gravel( the rest is paved). I was wondering if this was doable or should i not attempt. Thanks.

i don't see why it should be a problem. the stock tires aren't dirt tires however so i wouldn't go crazy on them. there's a couple tire threads on here somewhere, you might search for them to see what everyone else is getting and some short reviews too. welcome and congrats by the way, ride safe and have fun.

I ride on dirt roads all the time, its not the same as riding on the road. Its just rougher and slower, so I am not sure how fast you expect to be going if you are commuting. I would avoid any mud as well. My rat has been all mudded up for a few weeks form an encounter I had. I am somehow proud of all the mud.

Thanks, that really helps my consideration of trying it out, its about 20miles one way but theres only a small portion of gravel and its very low traffic. ( and when i say low traffic, it means i might see two cars the whole way.)

So i took a little trip out in the country yesterday and found that gravel is a beast of manny faces. I never would have imagined how varied the road conditions could be. This is stuff you just dont notice in a car. The bigger 3/4inch stuff is the worst. You can ride in the rutts but when you hit the random rock in the middle of the rut it tends to push you around a bit. the best stuff is the smaller sandy stuff that gets packed down tight. and the longer it has went without being graded the better. a freshly graded road its pretty much imposible unless you can stand to go 5mph with your feet out to catch you if you go down. just thought i would share what i found out.
