Haha! I bet I could convince the security guys to let me bring the scoot into one of the buildings, but we already did "scoot at work" and I didn't have the cahones to askScootLemont wrote:so you would be good with "your scooter in a classroom" next week?
I have convinced a dean to get a scoot (she got a used Honda Elite) and a new prof to pick up something used and cheap, so the revolution has begun!

I didn't think it would be so hard to find little plastic toy soldiers riding motorcycles. Bummer.
And damn these hunts that require knowing people or where they congregate. This is probably the best I can do this week. Lousy 2 points. Me and one bike. (Do I get points for the technically worst picture of the week?)

a couple people asked about the hunt being extended because the site has been down....
but that doesnt stop you from getting a photo...
so I dont see how its a problem....
unless the site is down the rest of Thursday night
so the deadline is still Thursday midnight (your timezone)
If there is a really good reason it should be extended, I am willing to listen

Actually Syd, I think that is a great location for a shoot. Just get rid of all those superfluous machines... Just save a portion of the corrugated roof along with that I-Beam support makes for a fine backdrop to yours, or any ride.

21 points+1 point if you are in the photo with your scooter
+1 point for each motorcycle in the photo with your scooter
+1 point for each motorcycle rider
There were only about 150 bikes there tonight since it had been raining all day. According to the owner of the place, typical Thursday night draws closer to 500 bikes.
I had the band make an announcement that "the guy on the scooter needs 10 bikes and 10 riders for a picture."
I would say that I'm not really brave enough for too many more scavenger hunt topics like this one.
Here's a hi-res pic for scrutiny.
Here's a hi-res pic labeled for proof.
I suppose I should be upset, even feel violated, but I'm not. No, in fact, I think this is a friendly message, like "Hey, wanna play?" and yes I want to play. I really really do.

way to go all out this week
Love that you had the band make an announcement for you!
-and nice proof pic - way to sweat the details
sorry... no points for most beer cans - did you tell the guys it was a photo for a Miller Lite ad?
dont worry about next week - everyone can go back to working with props and wont have to have any people in their pics

I don't mind the people, it's just that a parking lot full of big bikes is a bit intimidating. I had one guy come up and tell me that they chased off a couple guys on crotch rockets a few weeks back, but that I was welcome to stay. He said it's all about the attitude. I had a ton of people jealous of my gas mileage, surprised how much it cost and shocked at the top speed. I don't think they're all going to run out and get scooters, but I bet they respect them a bit more.ScootLemont wrote:and wont have to have any people in their pics

O please. Haven't we all learned by now that true biker people i.e. the Harley type riders, are the coolest 2 wheelers on the road? Yes, even cooler then us because they aren't AS judgmental about us as we are about them (generally speaking). I get nothing but MAD respect from Harley riders. Only once from a guy on a crotch rocket.ScootLemont wrote:I understand 100% - that took gutsOrange Guy wrote: I don't mind the people, it's just that a parking lot full of big bikes is a bit intimidating.
Case in point my JUST IN TIME FOR THE DEADLINE pic!!! w00t. Got home from a scooter club meeting and broke two, count 'em two laws to get this pic. I have been eyeing this bar all week and then totally forgot about the hunt until I drove by the bar on the way home (because I took the cage to the scoot club meeting).
So I got home, hopped on the scoot, with no helmet (broken law #1 as I do not have my M yet) and drove up to the corner at night (law #2). Not even 2 clicks on the odo.
No one said one cross word, barely even looked in my direction as I pulled up to 18 bikes on the street. Sadly I took 12 pics and only a few turned out.
So, yes there are 16 if you could see them, bikes in this pic. I will only take 5 points because you can only really make out 4 bikes and one rider.
5 points:
(Count the orange reflectors, plus the one the dude is getting on and the big orange one in the far back...)
Someone did yell "woohoo" as I pulled away. lol
Sorry for the crappy pic, but at least I got something this week after missing my own hunt last week!

Trying to get points for LAST photo.
The Scavenger Hunt continues.
This week Modern Buddy had us find motorcycles and motorcyclists. We had to pose with our scooter and with as many bikes and riders as we could entice into this photo. The limit was 10 riders and 10 motorcycles, but I didn't even come close.
I got three bikes and five riders (but only three count as you can't have more riders than bikes), and I was in the photo with Scootle.
If you can't see the third motorcycle, it's behind the larger gentleman in the middle. Look for the throttle.
This week's total, 7 Points!
Here are the shots...
<a href="http://bowlofcheese.com/wp-content/uplo ... .jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1353" title="harleys2" src="http://bowlofcheese.com/wp-content/uplo ... rleys2.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></a>
An appropriate sign for this week.
<a href="http://bowlofcheese.com/wp-content/uplo ... .jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1352" title="harleys" src="http://bowlofcheese.com/wp-content/uplo ... arleys.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></a>
Shot 1. Look right under the big guy's wrist to see the throttle on the third Harley Davidson in the photo.
<a href="http://bowlofcheese.com/wp-content/uplo ... .jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1351" title="harleyagain" src="http://bowlofcheese.com/wp-content/uplo ... yagain.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></a>
This shot isn't much better...if at all. But that's what you get when you're trying to corral Harley riders.
<a href="http://bowlofcheese.com/wp-content/uplo ... .jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1354" title="oddharley" src="http://bowlofcheese.com/wp-content/uplo ... harley.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></a>
And another bike that was in the area right after we got done with our jumbled photo shoot. Sadly we couldn't convince them to come be in the photo.
That's all for this week. Hope next week goes better.

-NOT FOR POINTS-
Look at the freaking handlebars on this bike!!!
Good lord, must be like reaching for the sky driving this one! hehehe Much better pic, but only 2 pts so this is just a "check out the bike" pic.
(So many bikes at the bar they started parking on the other side of the street)

What can I say? I used to do a lot of my drinking in Dallas and had a lot of friends in that neighborhood!ScootLemont wrote:Shouldnt Eric be popping in about now to identify the bars in todays photos?
Scootering has seriously reduced my alcohol consumption. And as much as I enjoy drinking, scootering is much more fun.

Really surprised you don't see cops just pulling people over at these biker bars. I suppose some of them control their liquor consumption, but there were 18 bikes outside the bar I posed on a Thursday night. Tell me they are all sober.... NOT. But, again, in general they are pretty cool people so I don't want to slam them.
Peace to the Harley dudes. Ride safe gents. hehehe

I liked the fact that we had to get out of our "comfort zone" for this week's photo. Yes, it was a bit uncomfortable to go up to strangers and ask if they would be in our photo, and it was probably easier for the women to ask then for the men, but I think those of us who did found that most motorcyclists are just like scooter riders (except scooter riders are better looking!!) javascript:emoticon(':D')
Seriously, this challenge finally made me stop at Newcomb's and not be embarrassed about mixing it up with cruisers. They said "You still got here on two wheels and it still took balance." OK, I know that if I ride my Harley up there I will be included in the group, but scooters are too much fun!!! (Besides, there's not much challenge in showing up on a motorcycle if you know you will be included...)

Well then Sue, you really ought to like this week's Hunt. You've gotta find a California Grizzly (that ought to be like finding Bigfoot), and I've gotta wrangle up an Arizona Ridge-nosed Rattler and climb a saguaro for a flower. Talk about discomfort!PasadenaSue wrote:I liked the fact that we had to get out of our "comfort zone" for this week's photo. ...
