Who all went to the WKRP Rally in Cincinnati?
The WKRP Rally was so much fun!! The ride was awesome, with large steep hills and over 300 riders. Does anyone have a definite count of how many scooters were there? It was a good time! Who else went and did you have fun?

I was there for Friday night and Saturday morning only, we were busy later in the day so we couldnt stay.
I actually saw several people here on modernbuddy, and I talked to a few. Your profile says you have a pink buddy, were you the female riding in with a group of people? I saw a woman with 2-3 other people and she was rising a pink buddy.

http://scoot.net/gallery/2009/04/wkrp/ photos are up and please post!
I heard some XYLs saying c. 300 bikes. The ride and wx couldn't have been better. Got to catch up with a lot of old friends and meet a lot of new ones-always the best part. Accomdations-wise I'm glad I stayed at the Holiday Inn as the Comfort Stay was SCARY! The breakfast at Metro Scooters could have gone on another hour (IMHO) and the cookout at Northside post-ride was great. I had my one Guinness and enjoyed the people and the Ska band at the Comet. (Got to catch up Eric, Tim and Carol and other Rovers). Won the presently "unaccounted for" Rovers' SC banner in the raffle. It's present location is a guarded secret but it's sure to make it's appearance at '09 Shakedown (07/31-08/020 in Detroit).
Large amounts of Skyline were consumed and enjoyed as well.

He was there. I saw him at breakfast from a distance but I never got to speak to him (adoring fans kept him occupied).ericalm wrote:Not me! I think illnoise went.jfrost2 wrote:Eric you came all the way from California? Or some other MB moderator? I dont remember seeing your blue lx.

Diane and I were there and had a blast!
We went on both the Sat and Sunday rides, met Bonegirl and Lager... and probably a few others that I didn't even realize...
I saw several other MB'ers rides there, but never saw the owners! And a few others I did actually see, but unfortunately never got the change to peel away and make an introduction.
Bad news from the rally is that my '08 puked gear oil out all over the wheel & tire on both rides, after I had just re-filled it with the correct amount of oil, so now I guess I can be sure of a *real* leak, and not just my dealer over-filling it all the time. Also when you spin the rear wheel while on the stand it sounds all grindy still, after my dealer had installed all new bearings in the entire final drive last summer.

Free chips and drinks off the snack trailer at every stop
Free cookout at the end of the ride
Beer, music, and relaxing at Northside Tavern
Scooter and bike raffle giveaways
Scooter sights, sounds and exhaust fumes everywhere...

I was there on and off because my family is in Cincinnati and I did some stuff with them,
Plus I didn't bring a bike because I haven't put a trailer hitch on the new car yet.
Sorry I missed a lot of you, saw a few old and new faces though!
I somehow mistook Lagerhead for Irish Tim Saturday night, I blame the fact that I came from Dollar Beer Night at the Cyclones game, I'd had a couple more beers at the Comet, and it was dark.
Also, Scooter Dave asked me to point out on the list that he's a jacka**, not an a**hole. Or something like that. Again. Dollar Beer Night. Hockey. I was "riding the Blur," figuratively.
Metro also had a preproduction Symba! Nice!
Also, as a moderator, I should move this to "Rallies and Rides," but I'm not gonna.

I was there. I rode. I hung out at the Comet. Didn't meet too many new folks. Felt like I spent most of my time reconnecting with old friends. There were so many people, I didn't see Irish Tim the whole weekend.
I'm hearing 300+ scoots at Metro Sat. morning, 270+ that actually went on the ride. And one corvette.
That Symba did look pretty sweet.

There was a Honda Super Cub clone at the Big Easy Weekender, but it was some other company I've never heard of "DYK". It was a beaut!illnoise wrote:Metro also had a preproduction Symba! Nice!

somebody was riding a red and white symba at WKRP. I was told it was the only one on the road right now. I did not get to talk to the rider, but got a good look at the bike at the uraniaum place. I think it is a great looking scooter.
It requires shifting but there was no clutch and the rear shocks were easily adjustable. neat looking buddy seat too. not sure what to think about the engine displacement (100 right?). I wonder how fast it will go. also there is no strorage. I am wondering if you could put some baskets on it?

It was Dave, the owner of Metro Scooter, riding the Symba at the rally. Found a couple photos - http://scoot.net/gallery/pic.html?pic=361796 and http://scoot.net/gallery/pic.html?pic=361531

4 speed (left foot shift like a m/c), no clutch (like Honda Cub, Passport, etc.), the rider had it up to 52 MPH indicated he said-but not broken in yet (Sym's specs say 56) , 101.4 cc and (@ 25 MPH) supposed to get 153 MPG!. It has adjustable rear shock preloads, it also looks like you don't have to take the exhasut off to clean the oil screen-I like! I sat on it too. Very nice though it might be a bit small for 6'+ folks.

Anyone know what that is behind the Symba?

I was there too, nice to have met some of you folks, caught up with others I hadn't seen in a while, and sorry I missed everybody else.
The ride was a blast, possibly the only time I have said "whoo-hoo!" out loud while riding the scooter. Big grins too.
Many thanks to the good folks at Metro Scooter (and other sponsors) and everybody from XYL who did a lot of hard work to make this whole thing possible.

Fun fun fun
I really had a great time, as most everyone knows. It rocked to be able to meet a bunch of you this time.
EBee, I will get the patch to you. Had it in an envelope to scoot to your place personally but had unexpected company Friday so I didn't make it. Hold out a little longer, please! Thanks!

I believe that other cub clone is the one Flyscooter is going to bring in. It's Chinese, not as nice as the sym, but it's pretty neat.
