[NSR] So what is this?
I’ve seen it several places, is it some sort of secret code, or a pigment of my imagination?

It's the new improved barcode. You see them a lot on shipping waybills.

Soon you'll be able to use your phone to interpret these new bar codes:

You already can! Check the date on that story. 2007, but not an April Fool's joke. I used mine on a movie poster to get a free download or something like that. They're also using them in some magazine ads.rickko wrote:Soon you'll be able to use your phone to interpret these new bar codes:

It's the 2D version of a barcode.rajron wrote:I’ve seen it several places, is it some sort of secret code, or a pigment of my imagination?
Only a matter of time before they go 3D (holofoil).

You sure can. Hop on the market and search for "scanlife", thats just one of many barcode apps that'll run on the Droid. That one can do all the major types. For instance. The barcode you posted is a link to ScooterDave's website, and when scanned will open a browser with that site.rajron wrote:I feel so behind the time.
Hey Kaos;
Can I read the codes with my Droid? How? – not really sure why I want to read codes, but if I can might has well do so.

Reminds me of Mother brain from the original Metroid.

Not at all. I just look up useless info most my waking hours. It's one of the benefits to having a job that requires very little thought or focus.
