buddy's got a new roommate
it's officially don's but i'm its new best friend.
it's an 81 lambretta jet 200. a serveta (made in spain) and has one of the coolest stories to go along with
the man who sold it to us bought it new from a car dealer in albany ga when he was 48 (my age ) from all indications this guy loves small engines and loves to tinker and loves the beauty of it's styling. It has 300 miles on it. It was put up at one point and taken back out in 97 when he decided to retore it better than new with lots of chrome and all cleaned up. He's taken a bad fall, not of the scooter, and isn't going to ride it. it came with a box of parts and manuals and tools.
we'll take good care of her. she is sweet and runs beautifully.
She'll never take the place of buddy of course. buddy is twist and go sweet and mile for mile that's hard to beat.

- most of the panels, including hte side panels have been repainted.
i think the side should have a stripe with 200 in it, or jet 200 or nothing. ??? - 73.JPG (63.45 KiB) Viewed 1281 times

The blue plastic on the fender chrome is just an accent... Various brands have different details like that. Some have cool "crests" for their company on them. You could probably take it off or find some without.
You may be able to find smaller/more streamlined legshield and rear chrome bars for this model, too. The rear bars and carrier are really unique, though—a thing of beauty. I can understand your desire to see it without all that, though. Then again, put some Continental whitewalls on, add about 10 mirrors to the front and paint checkers on the sides and you'd have one seriously beautiful mod scoot!

don't give them ideas about additional mods. it's loved as it is...
there's even a fine coat that will go with that couldn't be used on a bike.
anyway it's a post mod. so no mods are better than 10 mods?

I can understand and appreciate the the chrome bar fixation on vintage scoots but, to my eyes, this Lammy would look its best without that stuff. All a matter of personal taste, of course.
To me, one of the really essential aspects of the Lambrettas is their narrow-ness, but I tend to prefer narrow bikes of all sorts. This Lambretta has narrow cowls and that svelte narrow seat and, to me, all the chrome does is fatten it up.
That's just me though. No matter how you slice it, this bike is a beauty. I'm jealous.

GT1000, i agree, did you see my comment on the last pic? "it's true, she's sweet...but...i've already given my birthday wish for next february; all chrome (excpt the fender) comes off for the month. i want to see her as she was intended, with all the pretty lines."
the diminsions are really close to the buddy's and the dry weight is something like 250 lbs. (the handy manual is written with feet, inches, lbs, gallons very convenient for the american public.)
you can, of course see through the lines of chrome and they do protect the body...next feb will come and i'll take hundreds of pics
yet another pic, of that slim line. the camera's not exactly straight on but you get the idea. and btw the dog, aka larry, doesn't have a license to ride.
