NSR, what I've been up to MCR
The reason I haven't been around here much (still have the buddy)
Picked up a nighthawk 650 for $100. it's in pieces but he had them all and threw in a bunch of extras.
Day 1
Day 2
got the frame cut and some of the welds ground off.
Day 3
Got the top bars bent and tacked in to place
Ride height adjusted
Bars bent and tacked in
Day 4
Welded the top bars, need 1 freaking bolt to move on and no one has it...

really awesome ST! I work at a community college and have been thinking about taking some welding and motorcycle mech classes. Seeing stuff like this definietly pushes me to find the time to take the courses so I can do stuff like this too

Unless I'm missing something, that's going to be a really harsh ride. It'll look sweet for a shafty 650cc bobber... but how are you going to cushion your tush?!

I think you quoted the wrong post. No ninja skills here, I'm more of a pirate

Ahh, I see now. I don't see those around here because of all the pot holes, I guess. :ScooterTrash wrote: Have you never seen a hardtail? It will have a sprung seat

They actually have air bags for seats and or mini coilovers for the seats

I'd never seen a pothole 4 layers of pavement deep until I visited Richmond a few years back. Blew my mind.ScooterTrash wrote:Potholes are everywhere talked to a 65 year old man riding cross country on a hard tail the other day. He is a bad assLostmycage wrote:Ahh, I see now. Totally different tread pattern than the front? Is this temporary?

Some folks say that riding with very different tread patterns cause instability and a less than ideal ride.
I've ridden on different (but similar) tread patterns, too. It's very common on the Vespa LX, because there used to only be a couple choices for the odd-sized 11" front. No negative effects that I could tell.

Thats usually the people who switch to a cheaper tire on one of them. There are differences but oh well.ericalm wrote:Some folks say that riding with very different tread patterns cause instability and a less than ideal ride.

Need honest opinions on the fender (still needs work)

I love how this bike is coming along! I am quite envious.
About the fender, personally I would just round it out rather than have the point. But that's just me - I tend to like simpler design. My thoughts are that a few years down the road simpler designs will still look cool whereas more ornate ones can become dated. Kind of like clothing designs - you can still wear simple a few years later.

I agree with Skootz. I like the idea of the rounded end more than the pointed end of the fender.
Plus, if you actually ride it regularly, somebody's bound to lean on the point and ruin it for you. Also, is that fender long enough to keep the road water off your back?
