Proper Stella PSI?

Post by ScootLemont »

Ok.. I have an 08 with the zippy continentials
Just picked it up last summer new from the dealer.

What is the factory suggested tire PSI?
I cant find it in the manual
The sticker on the leg shield has 17 psi front & 35 psi rear
(I have read mention of 17/30 being in the manual- but I cant find it)

& yes... I did search the forums & found lots of PSI talk, but not for the Stella which I assume might be different.
If there is a tread on this & you can post a link here - that would be greatly appreciated.

If not....
what is Genuine's recommended PSI?
& what you you inflate to?

thanks!

I've heard 17/30 but I inflate to 30/30 because it corners a lot better and I hate replacing my tires.

thanks lmyers
Any one else want to chime in?

On a side note... it was a fluke low 80's in the Chicago area today so I pulled my stella out of storage & it fired up on the 2nd kick
little smoke until it warmed up, but running like a champ

It was also nice to go fill it up with fresh gas - even if its $4.05/ gal right now here

Page 6 of the service manual shows 22/29 - varying with temp.

My question is, shouldn't we go by the recommended PSI on the tire? That would seem to be more relevant [but maybe not].
If you choose not to decide -- you still have made a choice.

The PSI on the tyre is the max allowable PSI for max load rating.
It is independant of what bike it goes on.
The PSI listings in the owner's manual are what you should use.

My Stella 4T shows 17/26. It rides and corners great like that. The shop had set it up at 30/30 and that made the front very nervous and bounce around on every road imperfection.

I go 32/32. I suppose the ride is a little rougher, but it should improve mileage a little. Plus I'm 250 lbs, so a little over inflation should be okay.
