09 Stella Am I Over Revvin' It ?

Post by thumbuddy »

Have about 170 miles on it. Last two times out I took it to about 37 (indicated) in 3rd gear and the engine really seemed to smooth out. Does this rpm (whatever it is) seem too much for my low mileage ? I know I have a 4th gear.

Per the owner's manual for the first 1250 miles: 1st gear 0-6.2 mph, 2nd gear 6.2-12.5 mph, 3rd gear 12.5-21.8 mph, and 4th gear 21.8 and above. This is supposed to "ensure a longer life for your vehicle." Seems a little over kill but....

Wow, that's really low. I'm fairly certain my p200 would die if I was going 22mph in 4th gear. I wonder what the owner's manual would say for a p200....

Yeah, I tried following these guide lines and it feels like its going to stall each time you shift.

I followed the guidelines pretty well for the first 500, then I began to open it up. I would say 37 in third is as fast as you can get it and I rarely get it that high, unless I am on a hill or in an interesting situation. I dont hesitate to rev it to 35 when I need to, but I like to get it shifted so I dont wear out the thing.
So, I would dial it back a bit, til you hit 5-600 miles. Then let 'er rip.
