Kick butt!!

I especially liked....

http://scootertronics.com/GY6

that single report, will do a ton for us newbies. It looks like we can do several things to increase performance even without a cylinder expansion. We don't need no stinking cc kits!!

Great find.

I've read where the Buddy engine is the 125cc version of the CY6 engine. Is that true?

It is A version of the GY6 engine. Every manufacturer makes them differently, though...stud placement, piston depth, etc. The GY6 is simply a design...and as such is used just as a starting point for most manufacturers. Don't get to thinkin' that ANYthing for a GY6 will fit any GY6...you WILL be disappointed.

And the variator isn't actually part of the engine—it's your transmission. So that may be much different than the one on any other given GY6-based scoot. Or it may be the same.

A few ModernVespa riders have tried these out.

I know that all GY6 motors are not created the same, and that a lot of the parts are not interchangable. But the sliding roller weights do interest me and this product as well. Anyone know if this might fit the buddy?

Just a warning: I had a bad experience with Scootertronics. Back when my only scoot was The Chinese Piece of Crap, I ordered a scoot cover from that shop. The page indicated that shipping on scoot covers was free. What it didn't say was that shipping was free if you also bought a scooter. I was pretty pissed when they charged my card for shipping. I complained, but to no avail.

I've noticed that they've changed the text on the relevant web page, though; at least they're not misleading people about the shipping costs anymore.

That is good to know. If i decide to try out the sliding rollers i would probably order from somewhere else now knowing that.

I know a reasonably simple way to figure out if they'll work. Measure the ones you've got now and compare that to the Dr. Pulley ones.
