The Vino guys all rave about switching their spark plugs to an iridium one for much better performance..!
Anything like this available for the Buddy?
Thanks,

I started to type out a whole reply of why not to do this. But somehow I lost it, and dont feel like retyping it again.
Anyways, iridiums are just long life plugs - it has nothing to do with performance.
If you want the best performance, run a copper plug. But dont increase the temperature of the plug for no rease. Pull your plug out, check and see what color it is. If its the proper color, its already running the optimal temperature range, and needs to be left alone.
Plug temperature will only let your engine run properly, not BETTER.

Plus some of the more expensive plugs like the platinum plus 4's are side gapped plugs. Side gapped plugs advance you're spark timing, you'd end up with a pretty high idle and on top of that may end up detonating, small chance though, on high speeds. People rave about the hotter plug for yamahas because their yamahas just aren't tuned properly. The vino 125's came from the factory with a recycled carb fom a bigger bike. The accelerator pump throws too much gas into the engine under acceleration and they need the hotter plug to maintain a good spark, either that or just disable that pump with a paper clip. The accelerator pump also explains why the vino 125 gets such poor mileage in stop and go traffic. When people disable it they report better acceleration and gas mileage.
