Mounting Mirrors with windshield on Stella
If anyone is thinking about mounting a windshield and is concerned about the loss of the mirror mounts don't sweat it. I have mounted a Cuppini windshield which came with an extended mount that places the mirrors behind the handlebars, which is just a bad location and is a cheap compromise, IMHO. What I did was take the original mounts and reverse them so that the right mount now goes to the left side and fixed to the rear bolt of the windshield mount. The mirror is not heavy and the one bolt attachment is more than adequate. The mirror is secure and does not vibrate any more than it did before installing the windshield. Reversing the original mounts from left to right puts them at an complimentary angle that allows the mirror to clear the windshield mounts and looks pretty nice too.
Here's a look at what I did...

Crew, that was clever!!!!!!! I was never really happy with the original
placing of the mirrors before I used the mounting brackets that came
with the windshield and mounting them behind the windshield is a
disaster. I have already ordered 1 legshield mirror and if it does not do
the job I will try your method. Thanks for posting it.

Great idea to flip the brackets!.... I still think that if you bend them slight....... They'll push the head further outbound..... I good job!

Figured I'd share my setup which I recently acquired and installed. I purchased the Faco Mid windshield, along with the extended 4-hole brackets that are available. The windshield doesn't actually mount to the brackets like some others do, but I was able to set it all up with the mirrors mounted in front of the windshield. I'm pretty happy with the windshield too. It does a good job at protecting my hands and my chest from the wind. I'm 5'-4" and the turbulent wind coming over the top of the shield makes a lot of noise right on the top of my helmet. If I duck down an inch or so it's really quiet. If I sit really straight and stretch my neck so my helmet is in more of the airstream, the noise isn't as bad. I also purchased a Urbano Tucano Termoscud and now I'm riding quite comfortably on those mornings with temps below freezing. Here are some pics of the setup:

This is how I've "winterized". It's my daily commuter. Getting a windshield that provided hand protection was based on advice from my dealer. I was discussing getting "Hippo Hands", but they're ugly and don't really work will with the whole left hand shifting thing. Other options beyond the winter riding gloves I already have for keeping my hands warm on those sub-30 degree days were pretty expensive, and the windshield really protects a lot more than just my hands.
I don't really love the windshield look so it'll come off as soon as weather permits. I may just remove the windshield and leave the brackets and mirrors in place instead of switching back to the stock brackets. I could use the extra holes for mounting other items, like the RAM mount for my GPS.

Hi All,
I just purchased a new windshield for my stella and have been thinking about designing a custom bracket to allow the mirror to actually mount somewhere usefull. Going from the modfication in this thread it looks like an 'L' shaped bracket would do the trick. Does anyone running this setup have any thoughts on improvements to the position of the mirror? My biggest concern is the vibration. I will probably know more once i get the thing mounted to my scoot, but any input from those of you currently riding like this would be great. I am also thinking of adding a mounting hole to attach my RAM iphone mount.

I was just browsing and thought I would give an update to my mirror setup.
Since adding the windshield and flipping the mirror bracket which is a one bolt set up now there have been no problems. The mirror has remained solid and has not needed to be re tightened. Vibration has been the same as before the change and some of my riding is at sustained hyway speeds.
