buddy odometer units per gallon

Post by jeebus »

So all the time I've been telling people I got 100.4 mpg, I knew in the back of my mind that the odometer wasn't completely accurate, and what I actually get is 100.4 buddy odometer units per gallon. So today I hooked my garmin quest to it's mount (RAM, off ebay, works great, except I'm only running on battery power, not plugged into the buddy). Anyway for an indicated distance of 30.55 "miles" the gps showed 27.7. So for me a buddy odometer unit is about 90% of a mile, meaning I'm actually getting about 91 mpg.

Still quite good, but I figured it was worth knowing how much the odometer is off by. Looking forward to finding out soon how much the windshield I just ordered affects it.

110+ MPG

Amy's orange buddy is getting over 110 mpg over the last several tanks. Usually riding at 45 with a windshield. Of course, with the standard scooter/motorcycle speedo error, that translates to over 100 mpg.
