I am getting a psycho for my birthday!....I think!

Post by scudder »

New to the forum, though I have been lurking for a while. My poor chinese scooter finally decided that it no longer wanted to "love me long time" and the frame broke. This of course devastated me and I immediately started bitching about being scooterless to my wife. She responded by saying "quit bitchin' you are the one that bought a second hand scooter off of craigslist". I of course was very hurt by this remark and sulked for awhile. I may be a dumbass when it comes to buying junk on craigslist, but I know when my wife is up to something....she called me at work and asked a few innocent questions about my broken scooters displacement and wahtnot. So, with my birthday a few weeks away i assumed I was going to get a new chinascoot! I immediately began snooping around and found a large envelope in her cars glovebox....paydirt! I open it up hoping to see a receipt for a Gator 150 or something....but it said Genuine Scooter Company...buddy 125 psycho! "Holy hell" I say to myself, even I know Genuine makes a fine scoot. I did not know what the psycho was and to be honest I still am not to sure what the differences between a regular 125 and a psycho are besides the seat and horn. Hooray for me! Hopefully I will be posting some pics on March 11 (my birthday).

Psycho has badass front a rear suspension and I THINK some tranny upgrades. Check out Genuines website dude! I, too, had a chinascoot to begin with and upgraded to a Buddy 150 St Tropez. Let me tell ya, you are in for a treat. Seeing as your wife is doing this as a suprise, please dont let the cat out of the bag!!! And you may want to do some "special" things for her.

You, sir, are one lucky guy! Congratulations and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Woohoo, you'll love it. Now, can you persuade her to ride, too (or does she already)?

Yeah, I am pretty bad when it comes to this kind of stuff, always have been-always will be I suppose :D

This is the hardest part of finding gifts early, trying to act all suprised....I will just scream like a little school girl and begin fondling the scooter! Don't worry, I have the "special things" planned out already.....lube-check.....whip-check...David Hasselhoff mask-check...... "couples masseuse" from Craigslist-check and double check!

I will try and take a couple of pics of the envelope and it's contents, all James Bond like. It may be a day or two because I will have to wait untill I am sure she is occupied long enough for me to sneak about. unfortunately she sometimes moves my presents around to different locations like the Somalian pirates do with hostages. I suppose she thinks this will keep me from finding the stuff, but the house is only so big and unless she buries it out in the yard , again like a pirate, I am confident I will be able to find it and pics will follow!

I am so frekin' excited about getting this scoot! I managed to snap a couple pics of the "documents" as promised. They were moved from the glove box to the Christmas decoration rubbermaid container in the attic....but I of course used my deduction skills learned through years of snooping for presents to locate them..

You're having so much fun with your detective work, but it will be even more fun when you get the scooter! Maybe you should suggest celebrating your birthday on Friday night so you can have all weekend to scoot! :)

Welcome Scudder, and congrats on converting to a Genuine rider, and getting an awesome scoot at that! While I am not a fan of the look of the Blackjack/Psycho (there I said it, don't kill me!! ), it is my understanding that both models have some really nice performance upgrades thrown in for much less than what you would spend modding it later, so they are a very good deal.

Looking forward to seeing you around the forum more, and seeing pics! We want bday pics of you, wifey and your yet-to-be-unveiled scoot, upon his/her name and christening!! Do a bunch of reading up on breaking in and stuff, since it sounds like you didn't have to worry about that with your first scoot. And start planning your lady's bday present now!

I snuck down to a Genuine dealer and took a look at the psycho, I think it is a little small for me but I am sure I will adapt to it! I think I am going to go ahead and order a leather jacket and full face helmet so I can look all Mad Max and s**t!.....There will definately be plenty of B-day pics!....The wait is killing me, this is going to be a long work week for sure.

It can seem small, but once you ride it, even the regular 125 has a lot of power and the agility is amazing. It is funny, mine still looks small to me when I view it, but when I am on it I am fine. You are going to LOVE it!

+1 Cordura and armor are nice, but they just don't slide down the road like leather. I've only slid once, but I'm still using the same leather jacket. I've seen people with brand new armored jackets go down the first time wearing their jacket, and making huge holes so it was only good for one ride. For the full face helmet, most people like their teeth and nose, even if they don't want to have any of the downsides of a full face helmet.

Getting the Mad Max look is definitely has a value, even if you can't put a price on it. Now you are going to have to give us pictures of the Psycho with Mad Max on it!

Psycho Birthday

Post by JasonDC »

I got a Psycho yesterday. My first scooter ever. And I've been riding it non-stop for the last day and a half. If my experience is indicative, you're going to love it. I hope you enjoy it to absolutely no end.

I don't why but I'm fascinated with this thread. For your sake, OP, I do hope that your lovely wife didn't use Modern Buddy to do her research only to find this thread.

And I thought I was bad trying to figure presents!

If you do actually get a Psycho,
you'll need a pair of these, A* Hi Points, to complete the Mad Max look.

Those boots are bad ass! I will definately try and track a pair down or just make some metal plates for my Docs. Sorry Raiderfn311, the assless chaps are allready in my inventory....it gets hot down here in the south! :D I wish my b-day would get here already, all this waiting around pretending I don't know is frustrating...on the plus side my new helmet got here today. It's a HJC CL-16 ,matte black of course! It fits a little snug in the temple area but I assume it will break in after some time.....Luckily I got home before the wife and hid the helmet so she doesn't know I know. I expect my jacket to arrive on Friday. I had a dream last night that i was riding my new scooter while being chased by topless women, Benny Hill style..music and everything! Unfortunately the dream was interupted by my alarm clock going off ....I usually do not try and analyze dreams, but I think this one most likely means that this scooter is going to be a chick magnet! Add in my new leather jacket and I should be irresistible to any and all females! Best birthday present ever!!!!!

She's here!!!!!!! I opened the garage when I got home from work to see this!

<a href="http://s776.photobucket.com/albums/yy48 ... nt=008.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i776.photobucket.com/albums/yy48 ... ho/008.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
I was actually suprised to see it because I assumed the wife was going to take me to the scooter store under false premises and I would ride it home....but the nice folks at twist'n'scoot delivered it! My official birthday is not till Sunday but we will commence with the celebration tommorow and I will post some more detailed pics.....hoo-ray for me! The wife even took me to a motorcycle store to buy a new helmet, which is good because the one I ordered off of the interweb did not fit. The new one fits nicely and was cheaper, plus I got a bad ass mirrored shield for it! So this is going to be kick ass weekend, the weather is looking good and I got a new scoot!
