I've posted (in the past) a whole list of potential next scooters for myself which I now seem unable to locate. Maybe that was on ModernVespa...
Anyway, I will likely go either bigger (Vespa GTS 400/500 if they actually make one as rumored, MP3 400) or older, buying a vintage shifter (there are a lot of models I'd like but most likely something 150cc+, Lambretta or Vespa).
Of course, if the become available new in CA, I'd love a Stella:
Outside the scooter realm, I'm still seriously interested in a VentureOne hybrid:
And I've recently become slightly obsessed with owning a mid/late '60s Honda Dream:

I'd love a GTS but am holding my breath (and $) hoping the L Series makes it to production.twharton wrote:The much anticipated CMSI "L-Series" Lambretta but I want mine in Pearl White.

I think I "owned" the L-Series longer than anyone who doesn't work for CMSI .
I must admit I fell in love with that scooter, even in the early prototype form. It was sexy to look at and even sexier as you left just about everything else in your dust. At this point I don't think I'm ever going to see one for sale in my showroom, which is a real crime. The new LambrettaUSA concept is based on selling enough Herchee/Adly scooters rebadged as Lambretta to finance their 3rd scooter offering which is supposed to be "retro" and desirable. I know what was desirable under the Lambretta banner, I rode it for about 2 months.
The Mp4 (My name for the 400cc Mp3) - Frankly, I don't think we're going to see it in the U.S. next year. I love my Mp3 and I think the 250cc does a fine job, but I don't think the demand is strong enough to justify homologating an entire additional engine family. It was easy with the 250...there are other Piaggio/Vespa 250's already on the road. There are no other 400's...that would be the first. You've got to have an ass-ton of demand to justify the cost of U.S. Homologation.
A 40 HP GTS would light my fire, but not if it weighed more than the current Vespa.
The Blur Rotary 40 Horsepower may be a reality and if it is you know I will get one and you know I will be on my way to Bonneville the same week.
Eric - If you want a California legal Stella, I have a MINT condition used unit with enough miles on the odometer to get it titled in CA. It's Red and beautiful. Mazz crank, 24mm carb and Sito+ pipe. Fly out to Mid-Ohio next year in July and we'll get you a beautiful Honda Dream for under $2K. Everyone should own one at least once in their life. A true ride-able classic.
I guess my dream scooter would hover.

Hey, Phil, thanks for the offer... I'm going to bide my time and see if the Stellas become available new in CA in '08. Either way, if they go back into production, I suspect it will drive the prices down a little on used ones. I've seen some listed online for $3K or more, which seems a lot to me. On the Honda, I've been looking locally but another vehicle in the garage is kind of a low priority right now. Heresy, I know. But that bike's getting under my skin and there are a lot of them out there so I'm sure I'll own one someday.pocphil wrote:Eric - If you want a California legal Stella, I have a MINT condition used unit with enough miles on the odometer to get it titled in CA. Yamaha Majesty:
Fuel injected, slick aerodynamic design, handy. Fast enough to open more roads, but not so big that fuel economy dips below 60 mpg.
Anything bigger than this, and I'll hop on my FJR.

As someone recently posted on MV, quoting an interview in Scoot! Quarterly, I think, the CMSI L-Series (don't call it a Lambretta—they can't and don't) is due for a new prototype in the fall with production to start in spring '08 or so. That's what they say, but there are many skeptics.
Personally, I'm not even a fan of the looks of the L-Series. Seeing the pic with Phil riding it, the proportions all seem out of whack. The legshield looks to be knee-high and he's sitting way back on the seat, making it look quite small. Yet it also looks too wide (and by most reports is). We'll see what the next version looks like.

I took a 1700 mile trip to the Hill on wheels rally in Chattanooga (GREAT RALLY!) I averaged just over 47 mpg. No it's not Buddy territory, but that was averaging 75 - 80 mph with all my luggage, camera gear and the longest rider award on the way back That thing alone weigs about 25 lbs(plus all the other loot I won...Corazzo jacket, etc etc.. ! Oh and for the local group ride the next weekend I took the Buddy!JeremyZ wrote:Except when you fill it up and realize you only got 40 mpg...BuddyRaton wrote:For all those wanting an Exec....DO IT!!!! I rode my scooter up to the lake for Labor Day Weekend (100 miles). The Harley guys were polite, but not too impressed until I lifted up the seat and pulled a cold can out of the ice.
Put a soft sided cooler in the pet carrier - room enough for a 12 pack and bag of ice.

No sad days. anything that gets that kind of mileage is cause for smiles for miles. the vw is engineered for milage, the bike not so much.StL_Stadtroller wrote:damn, my VW TDI got 50mpg. sad day when a 2-wheeler can't even beat a car with the radio and AC blastin...BuddyRaton wrote: I averaged just over 47 mpg.

But not a MP3 500?Leeroy Jenkins wrote:Gilera Fuoco 500ie
I'd definitely have to consider the Gilera GP800 should it ever come to the US in some form. 850cc scoot? Heck, yeah—though it certainly pushes the boundaries of what's defined as a "scooter." The also tasty Aprilia Mana motorcycle has the same engine. Hell, I'd take either.

ah yes barbers, my thoughts exactly. it's not just unique bikes either, it's full of the faves, probly a hundred 70 something model hondas on display that were on every street corner. the warehouse is a thing of amazement in itself, shelves to the ceiling lined with bikes waiting their turn to be shown and not necessarily restored.mlstephens wrote:I saw a Topper at the Barber Motorcycle Museum.
