Riding Earbuds = Almost Free (DEAD DEAL)
I was scouring the internets searching for Christmas bargains and came across these. These models usually sell for $35.00 EACH. But today and who knows for how long you can get TWO pair for just $12.99!

Newegg $35.00 each similar model

And $20.00 at Amazon

So what makes 'em "riding earbuds." Well, they have a zipper!

I've pretty much given up on trying. My ear canals are dainty little things (unlike my feet), so in-ear buds won't fit, and regular buds like those in the OP won't stay in when the helmet goes on. So until a helmet with built in speakers comes out, memories are my music, which means I can hear The Carpenters for as long as I ride.

Great price. Worth a try. I won't use 'em on my scooter (I just don't like that) but will use for Pandora while on my laptop or with my iPod.
The link to the product actually shows in-ear style with 3 different size gels instead of the ear button style. Nice.
I recently bought some $15 Sony's at Target that I'm actually really happy with.

While on the page, look under N-Com electronics.
They have other models. That one's just my favorite.
No, it is NOT cheap.

No, but there are many other in-helmet speakers on the market. Many newer helmets even have pockets for speakers (my Vega does).Southerner wrote:That day has already arrived:Syd wrote:.................. Meanwhile, I've always had the same problem with earbuds or in-ear phones thingies when riding. Until…

ON SALE! $8!
These work well for me at the gym and actually stay on when used in my helmet. They do sometimes take a bit of adjustment after I put the helmet on, but they work well enough. iPod/iPhone mic and button work well, too.
Beats the hell out of the $65 system I bought years ago with in-helmet speakers.

My headphones just came in and I thought I would share a few early impressions.
The packaging is interesting but it does state "Online Order Packaging". Basically, the earphones, neck strap and different size rubber tips are all in a small pouch with the name Vulcan on the outside. This pouch is in a bubble wrap pouch which is inside a dense, plastic envelope with the company name and logo on the outside.
The feel of the headphones is pretty decent; especially for the sale price.
One of my concerns is a reality, though. The weight of the cord/zipper and zipper pull are a bit of an issue. The neck strap takes care of that but who wants to use a dang neck strap?
Now for the sound: At first, I thought the sound wasn't as good as my Sony's which was pretty disappointing. "I thought, Ah crap, they're just a gimmick".
I went back and forth with the same song between the two headphones and once I changed the Vulcan ear pieces to the small rubber tips, wow! What a difference. A better fit let all the bass in and the sound is very good.
One other issue: a big problem with in-ear headphones is noise from the cords as they move or bump around. These Vulcans are a bit more sensitive to that; probably because of the thicker cord and zipper design.
The zipper design works very well, BTW and feels like it will last a long time. I ended up buying 2 sets of the deal (4 earphones) and will give a pair to each of my kids with their Christmas presents and keep one for myself. You can never have enough earphones, right?
Oh, one more thing. The 1/8" connector is straight, not an "ell" or 90* which I prefer.
