2012 Buddy 125 Rear Shock Upgrade

Post by felker »

Hi,

I am looking to upgrade the rear shock to make my ride more enjoyable (roads here arent the best). I did little research there apparently are 4 choices (3 of which are YSS).

www.scooterworks.com
1) YSS Adjustable $59
2) YSS Adjustable Performance $152
3) YSS Adjustable Performance w/Resevoir $249
4) NCY Performance Shock $183

I've read here and other forums that the $59 "white" YSS shock is a great upgrade and there was no need to spend any more money (unless you wanna "race" your scooter). HOWEVER, when looking at this shock on the website it has it listed as a "REPLACEMENT".

I'd hate to spend the $$ only to have a shock no better than the original. Does anyone here have any more advice?

Thanks,
Chris

The first thing to figure out is what you want to get out of a shock swap. Do you want to smooth out the ride or are you looking for better handling?

As with almost everything there are trade offs. With a cushier ride the performance generally isn't going to be there. If you're looking to stiffen things up to dive bomb the curves you are going to give up some comfort.
