Honda has offered a darned fine line of bikes for many years (I've owned several). Looks like they have added a few more to the line-up. Now how about scooters? Couldn't we see that new Integra? Or the SH300i? The old design Silverwing is now the only scooter they offer above 150cc .

Well, it is a four, and a great step back to the naked CBs of a previous time. I'm with you though. How about a little brother 550 twin?phatch wrote:Y SO MANY cc's???JHScoot wrote:CB1100....making me drool a little

But, admittedly, it's a sharp step forward in style for Honda. Looks GOOD for a liter bike! Make me a twin cylinder around 300-600 and I'm down. And, I am also throwing my vote down for the Honda CB500 Adventure model. VERY cool

How quaint and retro. I kid. This 'naked' look CB1100, to me, is what a 'street bike' ought to be, not some miserable plastic-shrouded track-racer wannabe.
Looks a lot like my old '75 CB550F. A _whole_ lot like it, only that mine was SOHC. Pipe and header look similar, too. Air-cooled, possibly, unless that's not an oil cooler I see. Probably no carbs, though I like it.
Edit: Think there'll be a Vetter Windjammer 3 reissue??

Ya, a 2200 cc would be better. Maybe give it a couple different electronically controlled suspension/engine map settings. Give it a detuned touring setting, a sport setting, and a "make that potato head cry" setting.phatch wrote:Y SO MANY cc's???JHScoot wrote: CB1100....making me drool a little

1100 is a bit more than I want, and my neighbors will want to hear me warm up in the morning.

I don't need another bike ... but now I want another bike. The CB1100 does it for me.Tocsik wrote:I love that CB but, I too would like it in a lower cc twin.
Never been a fan of the Goldwing but I think they made the new one pretty classy looking if you're looking for a stretch limo bike. Nice lines.
And I agree on the Goldwing. They've always reminded me of a recliner on wheels ... but this one is starting to get there ... just a bit.

i think anything less then $11,000 on that 1100 would be a deal and anything over 12,500 would start to be precious. my guess is around 11-12K somewhere. a tad over 12K, perhaps. this would be on par with one of its main competitors, the Ninja 1000 and Z1000. IF it is fair to say a bike like the CB1100 is closer in spirit to a sport bike then a big, heavy cruiserSkootz Kabootz wrote:I am diggin' that CB! I wonder if it has a single-level bench seat option. That would add to the retro aesthetic. No MSRP announced yet. Any guesses?
it looks like it is. i hope it is. same displacement, similar purpose, different looks. might the prices match, too? unless honda is sending this bike "upmarket"

Ahhhh,
That CB1100F pulls all the right strings.
The garage currently contains (all as new BTW)
1974 CB550F......1400 miles
1982 CBX1000....1700 miles
2001 Kawi W-650 1800 miles
Yep, in addition to retro scooters I just love standard motorcycles.....admittedly the CBX is a bit of a stretch, but the riding position is very conservative.
BUT, the CB1100 is making me long for a bike I sold three years ago....a 1979 CBX.....the sister to my 82.....guy offered me HUGE money (Another collector and nut case like myself)
This was a 900 mile piece.....hard to sell but jeeze, lets just say cash still talks.
And, it was red, just as the new CB.
I see styling elements of the CBX as well as elements from other past standards.
Gonna have to ride one in the spring and see if it calls as loudly as I think it will.
Nice job Honda!......I hope it sells.....don't forget to tell America you are making it or it'll suffer the same fate that Kawasaki did with the W-650.
That would be 'Nice bike, we forgot to tell you we make it' marketing.

^^^
I'll speculate on the exaust.(4 into 1)......I'll bet there is a catalyst in there and that would be cost control.
From a retro standpoint, I think everyone except me installed a 4 into 1 Kerker or other variation back in the day.
Fact is, you picked up on the only element that I dislike.....I still like the balanced look of left/right sytems.

PeteH,
My 550 is the metalflake orange/black combo.
It is 100% stock......it did need mufflers due to seam rust (as usual) and I was able to aquire original replacements.
Beyond that, and tires of course, it remains as delivered 38 years ago.
I may have confused the readers with my model description.....it is the 550 Four......four pipe exaust......the 550F, if mempry serves, was a four into one exaust.
I mention this because of your color question.
Going off my now, 62 year old memory, I believe the 550 Fours were available in Metalflake Green/Black, or Metalflake Orange/Black and the 550F was Metalflake Blue or Metalflake Red, each with some black accents.

It's in several places on their site. Go to powersports.honda.com, prick your bike from the slider bar, click on it, and look for the price as shown below. Click on "Specifications" for more info.Skootz Kabootz wrote:Where did you find the pricing? I don't see it posted at Honda's American site.

why, no, no; with respect to the "new" Met, the still-non-EFI Ruckus, and the gaping holes among the smaller scooters & bikes Honda might have imported to the US, "prick' is exactly the right word. Looks good in the red. Needs some of those white scallops on the tank to fit the look perfect! And, I'd rather have my bikes without ABS. If I were a liter bike guy, this would be well on my radar and should make a Triumph nervous

I'm sure that is likely the correct price. Keeping it below $10K is a good psychological price point. Plus it puts it at a cost that will attract a lot of Bonneville fans... like me!jrsjr wrote:I thought I saw it on their site. My bad. A bunch of sites are quoting it at $9,999 w/out ABS. well here is the thing. at the honda site the bikes are listed and ordered. they are ordered high to low price wise. in the "sport" bike section all are msrp'd except the cb1100. but if it remains in its position it will sit somewhere between the $15,999 VFR1200 and the $11,760 CB1000Skootz Kabootz wrote:I'm sure that is likely the correct price. so if its listed position doesn't change it will have to be more then $11,760. it sits right next to it in the line-up. and how could it cost less then this ?

I'm gonna have to completely disagree with you (and that's cool cause it's just my opinion). The NC700X looks fantastic in person and with real world reports of 72+ mpg (per an actual owner) I've decided that this is my next bike.Lance Corona wrote:I do think it's better looking than the NC700X
I might dump the MP3 in favor of the NC700X and a 4T Stella.

Well, actually the individual models are also listed in order by displacement, and the CB1100 appears to be slotted in order of displacement. I'm not sure that necessarily tells you what the bounds on price will be. I grant you that displacement and price usually work out in the same order, but they don't have to. I presume we will find out fairly quickly.JHScoot wrote:well here is the thing. at the honda site the bikes are listed and ordered. they are ordered high to low price wise. in the "sport" bike section all are msrp'd except the cb1100. but if it remains in its position it will sit somewhere between the $15,999 VFR1200 and the $11,760 CB1000. so if its listed position doesn't change it will have to be more then $11,760. it sits right next to it in the line-up. and how could it cost less then this ?
