So, why is it called a Brit?

Post by pocphil »

I'd like to start by saying I'm very surprised the Buddy 170i Brit and Hooligan are not yet on the Genuine website.

Especially since I uncrated a brand new Brit yesterday and put it on my showroom floor.

I'm including a few pictures of the Brit, and it IS a handsome scooter, but, I'm wondering why it's called the Brit? What about the color scheme of Blue and White makes it British?

Somebody please hit me with some knowledge!

I'm thinking maybe they should have called it "The Scot!"

Click the link for 3 pictures of the new Brit.

Well, Scotland does occupy about a third of Great Britain. Maybe they were considering red stripes for the crosses of Saints Patrick and George, but decided it was "too much" and went with just the Saint Andrew colors? Or they were thinking of Doctor Who (whose TARDIS is blue with white details)?

Sweet! Thanks for the pics. I didn't realize the Brit was going to be a 170i.
I'm guessing if they threw red into the scheme to replicate their national colors that would have been too much. I'd love to see a "Scot" with a plaid seat :D

As a bit of an authority on Tardis Blue, this bike is too shiny and bright.

Yeah, while it's really cool and I do like it, that's totally too bright for a TARDIS blue.

This is an acceptable TARDIS blue. 8)

I may need to acquire that little Union badge to put somewhere on mine, though. That's pretty spiffy.

I say that 170 Brit should have a Union flag seat cover as a standard option. That would be really cool.

Somehow Gauloises doesn't say "Brit" to me. :)

My wife can't wait for the Brit 170. We'll probably be trading her 150 for one.

The Brit Buddy would have to be renamed the Scot Buddy if Scotland secedes from the UK in September.

I wouldn't lose a lot of sleep over that possibility. I heard a lot of pub talk about Scottish independence when I was at university there years ago, but the divide with England isn't sharp enough for secession, especially with Westminster "devolving" authority to the Scottish parliament.
