MPGdrop off

Post by dsmith65 »

I used to get upper 70 to low 80 mpg on my scooter. Last year it developed a fuel leak and since there were almost 13k miles on it I decided to have the rollers and belts replaced, and have them check out my leak. Leak was supposedly from an overfill, and they put sliders in. I can't find the paper work right now, but I'm not sure of the weights. After that the engine seems to rev harder from about 1/3 open throttle on. The fuel leak didn't go away so I took it to another mechanic. Turns out the petcock wasn't closing and my carb had some scaring so I got a new carb put in. Well now I'm getting mid to upper 60s mpg. Could the new weights be causing the higher rev sound, and thereby causing me to use more gas?

Thanks

maybe the new carb wasn't jetted right!

Also, with that mileage, have you also checked the valves?

I assume you did the plug and air filter too?
