GPS on a Blur

Post by louden »

Anyone tried to mod a GPS on a Blur? Some of these Garmin's are getting slick enough that they could be mounted on the dash where the clock is...

No; but ask JRSJR about his handy-dandy compass on the Scooter Cannonball Run.

Just kidding John.

Hi John,

It called a Ram-Mount here is the link:
http://www.ram-mount.com/gps_mounts/mod ... _mount.htm

they have motorcycle mounts for GPS units.

Don,

The reason I asked was because the RAM units seemed to be sized to grasp either the mirror stalk or a handlebar. I wondered if they would work on the Blur's "sheathed" mirror stalk. Did you have to shim it to get it to work, or just clamp it on?

Thanks.

Couple of Questions...

Post by louden »

So what did the whole setup cost you? Includnig mounting and GPS system, special wiring...

Are you running power to the lighter adapter in the seat? (Not sure if they had that on the 06 models)

How safe is it? Do you ever look at the thing when riding? Or are you always paying more attention to the road?

Thanks!
