Top Case Installation

Post by Liz C »

Well we figured it out I think but, um, there's some extra hardware left over. Is the trapezoidal plate thingy for something other than the Buddy?

The black trapezoid plate is what gets attached to the rear rack. The black trapezoid plate serves as a support platform for the top case. The black trapezoid plate gets bolted to the rear rack and then the top case gets bolted to the black trapezoid plate.

The black trapezoid plate gets bolted to the rear rack: the wider end of the trapezoid faces the front of the Buddy and the black trapezoid plate is laid down on the rear rack such that the sharp lipped edge of the plate faces down onto the rear rack. If you have attached the black trapezoid plate to the rear rack correctly then the 4 holes in the top case should match up with the 4 treaded screw holes in the black trapezoid plate.

For the bolts/nuts that attach the black trapezoid plate to the rear rack, get some lock washers to keep the nuts from loosening up. A few people have had the nuts that attach the plate to the rear rack loosen up due to the vibration of the Buddy as it traveled down the road.

Here is another post which discusses the top case installation:

Thank you, Wayne!

This sounds very clear and logical. Ithought I had seen a previous post about it but could not find it when I needed it. Again, thanks.
