Got High On Red

Post by Driller »

No, not that kind of high. We're talking about altitude.
Weatherman said clear skies today and little Red said "let's play"

Meeting up with another rider on his Dragon Red Vespa, we rode for Mt. Mitchell; highest point east of the Mississippi. After plenty of curves and lovely stretches of the Blue Ridge Parkway we reached our goal.

Cool, clear and beautiful. You could not have ordered a finer day ...

And yes, we gained some altitude!

After pulling into the garage with the Buddy showing 185 miles for the day, rain came pouring down from the mountain. Perfect timing!

"Little Red" performed flawlessly. I do like this scoot!

What a fun ride. I'm glad to hear an air-cooled 125cc can do it. J/K

The Buddy is a fine machine.

What's that tank to your right?(The BMW).

I bet you had more fun in the twisties than he did. :)

Mt Mitchell

Post by Clydeo »

I have ridden the BRP to Mt Mitchell on my Ninja 250. That has to be one of the very best bike-riding roads in the world! Everybody ought to ride it at least once. My wife is planning on taking the MSF course this summer, and the BRP/Skyline Drive trip is way up on our list of places to visit together. Great trip, great report!

Thanks for the pics and report. We haven't seen the sky up here in Ohio for several days, so I'll take your photos as proof that it is still up there.

Maybe soon, maybe soon...

Thanks again!

KK, that was a BMW GSA. I think the tank holds 6 gallons of petrol!. We saw several people on GS's on the parkway. Was thinking there might be a BMW rally in the area. A friend is coming from Georgia with a new one of those. Hope to give a try.
The Buddy did admirably well hauling my tush up there. Slowest was 40 bmph on a couple of long steep sections. Very little problems maintaining the 45 speed limit on the Parkway. When on downhill grades...woohoo!
That road is really a gift.
