right way for starter driven gear

Post by johnslack110 »

Ok I had to clean out my CVT the other day because of a broken belt. I pulled off the starter driven gear from behind the variator with out taking a picture and now I'm not 100 % sure which way it is supposed to go back on.I put it where the rise in the middle is facing outwards to the left where the teeth seem to always be engaged with the starter teeth. It seems to start every time, but I just want to be sure. I tried it the other where where the raised center part is facing inward towards the right, but when installed it didn't seem to catch the starter teeth everytime.
It seems to work with the center raised part facing to the left but I now here a slight whirring noise and not sure if that is just the new belt in the motor or those teeth from the drive pulley keeps turning the starter teeth. Any help would be great. Thanks I'm having issues trying to load the picture i'll try to add the file for you to see.
