I had 50cc 4t that was upgraded to a 70cc. It was a cheap Chinese Taotao and it was a lot of fun but it was unsafe to go to town from my home. The speed limit is 45 but the traffic usually goes over 50 and I could not maintain 30 up the hill. I decided if I wanted to ride around my house I needed a faster scoot. I opted for a Buddy 170i because it is the size of a 50cc and will fit on the rack on the back of my motorhome. I am very pleased with my Buddy because it is exactly what I needed.

A Buddy Roughhouse would likely out run my Taotao but it will not keep up with traffic exceeding 45mph especially on an up hill road.

I would suggest you also look at the Yamaha Smax. It is a liquid cooled 4 valve powerhouse that will out run anything you mentioned at about the price of the Honda.

That's my opinion.

Both great brands, reliability, followership and support. Post on totalruckus and you'll get a similar answer. Best advice is to test drive them all and make the decision can't go wrong.

Even if you travel just a little bit on a 45 mph road you're going to be disappointed in a 50cc scoot. You should be able to get a gently used, late model Buddy 125 for about 1/2 the price of a Hooligan. With the 125 you get a LOT of bang for the buck.

For what you described, I'd recommend the Buddy 125. And yes, they are very reliable.

If you want the racing stripes or colors of the 170i or the modern look and larger tires of the Hooligan, go for it. Both are excellent and reliable rides as well.

Genuine scooters get good reviews everywhere, not just here.

If you need to get up to 75 mph though, as recommended previously, consider the Yamaha SMax 155. However, it's larger and you'll be cramped if you're over 5'10".

Well, one answer is that there is no such scooter as a Buddy Venture. The Buddy, Hooligan, and sister scooters are built by PGO in Taiwan. That manufacturer has a solid reputation as one of the better 2-wheel manufacturers in the World. The Venture is also imported by Genuine Scooters but is built under contract in China. Does that mean it isn't any good? I don't know - but I do know that the fact that the Buddy is an excellent scooter tells you nothing about the Venture. I'm with others above. I think a used Buddy 125 would be a better choice for your intended use.

Sounds like the Buddy 125 (Or honestly, the Buddy Kick!) would be a better choice for what you want.

That said, the Venture is an alright bike stock - a little sluggish, but rejetting/replacing the carburetor wakes it up a bit.
