What's the biggest thing you carried on your Buddy?
Besides another person, what's the biggest thing you have carried on your Buddy?
I frequently have transported computers and small printers on the deck. The biggest load was a computer at my feet and my gym bag tied down on the rack and a full backpack .

I've tied a large box of kitty litter to the back rack; also a 24-pack of Dr. Pepper.
But the most interesting load was when I made an impulse stop at a garden center last spring. I had some plants in bags (hung in front), a flat tied to the rack, and a hanging basket hooked on each side of the chrome rack. Got lots of grins at the traffic lights.

Heck, a little compitition never hurt anyone. I carried a crap load of groceries including 4 of the 12pks of pop, gal of milk + another bag of food in my milk crate box, two bags on the floor, and a backpack full on my back. I think the long French bread sticking above my head and in my backpack got the best reactions.

LOL no- I am going to attempt to carry an actual LARGE CAT (22 pounder) on my back rack. I figure if the kitty litter is already there it shouldn't be too hard to coax her on up...HipCat wrote:That sounds about right; I couldn't remember the weight. It's the Arm & Hammer that comes in a box. I used 2 bungee cords and roped one through the plastic handle.

Probably 4 bags of groceries. 2 in the carrier and 2 hanging from the hook. The largest single item is a repeat on this thread, a baguette from Denver Bread Company.
Mmmm, fresh bread.

...an overnight bag and sleeping bag plus all my uniform requirements (6 shirts, five pr. socks, two pair of pants, a pair of boots, a belt, handcuffs and case and a necktie. Rode it over 120 miles on the way home from Phoenix like that. The story is at my blog...

I went to Wal-Mart for a few things. Ended up getting $76 worth of groceries. I have a 24 pack of toilet tissue between my legs, my bubble was full, and my little compartment also packed. I have to carry my purse on my shoulder. LOL after I spent a ton of time organizing it to fit....my buddy wouldn't start and I had to kick start it. I had some onlookers who were giggling.

Bulkiest: six gigantic bags of fibre fill for my stuffed X-mas presents, the Polianamals! And I had six yards of plush fabric, too.
Heaviest: I regularly carry an entire basket of groceries on my back in my RELoad messenger bag. I swear that thing weighs at least 40 pound. Thankfully, I discovered frozen juice concentrates, so that's helped. Ah, science.

Biggest thing I've carried
Last summer, I bungeed a new 5000 BTU air conditioner. I bought it in Manhattan, and took back to Brooklyn over the bridge. I was not taking that thing on a subway. I had to sit on the tip of the seat, but it was worth it!

I bungied three 18" pizzas at once on my rear rack. The problem is that the grip handle is in the way so it won't lay flat and it sticks out too far in the back to put it behind the handle. I ended up putting it over the top of the handle and it just got kind of bent on the way home.Scooterpup wrote:I've carried a 18" pizza strapped to the top box...and it survived the trip home! That's sweet about the 3 pizzas. Anyone tried to put the pizzas on a front rack? Not sure how you'd tie them on there, but it looks possible.
I've actually seen one of those pizza/hot food carrying scoots on the roads here in Denver. I'd load it full of curries and PBRs though...
mmmmmmmmmm..............vindaloo......

Wow, you all have carried some pretty impressive stuff! Lots of pizzas, it seems - I saw a pizza delivery scooter when I was in D.C. recently; that seemed like a no-brainer.
Well, on a recent trip I met up with a friend who had all my stuff from our old apartment (not much; it was just for overnight stays) - so I carried a 12-cup coffeemaker, 2 towels, a mug, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, 2 toothbrushes, deoderant, and 2 water bottles.
However, yesterday I had quite a fright! I was on my way to a rehearsal, and had some scores I had checked out from a library tied down (but not well enough, I guess) with another score I borrowed from a friend. One of the library scores and my friend's score fell off somewhere in transit. I got my OH to go look for them; he found the library score (thank heavens! They charge a fortune for lost materials) but not my friend's score. My friend was pretty annoyed but he's studying Taoism so I just reminded him that he needs to let go of his attachments.
From now on I'll tie things down a lot more carefully.
