Garage Door Opener

Post by Mr.FixIt »

This is a modification that I've made to all my motorcycles. I hate having a garage door opener hanging from the keychain, or stuffed in my pocket. I like it on the bike.

I took a keychain garage door opener and fitted it with an external button. This button is a momentary press button that mounts in a hole. The most convenient place on Stella is right under the front of the seat. A small aluminum angle bracket with 2cm center holes provides the support. (See lower left of the photo)
The button isn't visible from the outside of the bike, and is easily removable.

The body of the opener has hook/loop "Velcro" on it and is fitted in the empty spot right in the front of the seat.

When I arrive home, I can just reach under the seat and press the button... Presto!

Clever! I keep one in the glovebox on my scooters, but you have to open the glovebox, of course.
