Air fuel mixture screw blocked

I am currently running rich but I have found that the dealer or manufacture has epoxied over my mixture screw. Why would they do this? Any suggestions?

The dealer said it is blocked so that we won't need with it and for warranty reasons. Anyone have any luck getting it up?

It's the manufacturer. Once the prototype or sample passes EPA or other emissions inspection, the carbs have their mixture adjustment disabled with epoxy or other means. The intent is to prevent folks from messing with it and increasing emissions. The reality is that it can be carefully drilled out so as to allow adjustments.

However, your mixture problem could possibly be the result of a faulty bystarter that's stuck in the "on" position and thus is always feeding extra fuel into the mix. It's only supposed to do this when the engine's cold.

My Suzuki 650 single (2004 S40) had a brass plug covering the pilot jet screw. Backfired when downshifting & sounded like a shotgun blast when I turned off the engine. Probably made my neighbors nervous after midnight. I drilled out the plug & backed out the screw some & it stopped the backfiring. Had a bit more bottom end grunt too.
