What gunk is on the gasket that attaches to the airbox? 50cc

Post by scootbwh »

I removed the airbox bolts and pulled off the airbox right off of its rubber gasket thing (I didn't loosen the screw so that it pulls off of the carb instead - whoops).

Anyway, it was full of black gunk, almost like a sealant or adhesive...or maybe it was just dirty and sticky - who know? Do you?

Trying to find a picture of what I'm referring to, but its thr rubber gasket/attachment on the back of the airbox.

I would guess it's blown-out oil. Would have to see it.

(possibly related: my mom had a Buick Skylark 4-cyl. with wicked bad blowby. Worn rings I would guess. You had to change the air filter about every 2 months due to the oil on it)
