Resetting the ECU Question

Post by New2Scoots »

I have the instructions but 2 questions: While doing this does it matter if the engine is hot or cold? Does outside temperature matter? If so I probably should do this in winter & in summer.

No, in fact I find I have to do it if the temperature outside drastically changes so I wouldn't worry about it.

I have reset mine with both a hot and cold engine and it seems to work fine either way. The cold resets were because the idle had become rough or irregular at start up. The hot resets were done because during a ride overall power has seemed to be down or power seemed a bit uneven. I did once do a hot reset due to a stalling issue when slowing to a stops.

When I have needed to do the reset it is usually close to a significant change in the weather.
