4T slipping out of 2nd gear

Post by johnk »

Hey everyone. My Stella has been slipping out of 2nd gear lately. I think it goes into 3rd—it might be going into neutral, but I haven't seen the green "N" light come on. (If it weren't snowing today, I'd go out and test it some more.) Either way, obviously it causes a sudden loss of acceleration, and I just pull the clutch in and wiggle the shifter until it's back in 2nd.

Does this indicate a loose cable (clutch? shifter?), bad oil, or possibly something deeper in the clutch? Or maybe just poor shifting on my part? I'm still in my break-in period, so I usually shift pretty early.

Thanks for any help!

Very likely a loose cable. I'd check both adjusters and make sure they're nice and snug.
