Question About Extra Weight on Stella 4T

Post by srbbnd »

I have noticed when I have a passenger on my scooter it leaks a few drops of gas under the oil holder. When I ride solo it does not leak gas.

This makes no sense to me.

Maybe the extra weight is causing a bend in a hose, which I do not see any evidence of?

Or maybe the extra weight for some reason is creating an overflow in the carb?

Does anyone have any clue to what might be the culprit of this?

I am boggled.

The extra weight is likely making the engine angle more sharply compared to when it's just you, since more weight is pushing down on the frame. Perhaps this is opening a hairline crack in an old fuel line, as it bends farther than usual? I would suggest taking off the right hand cowl, where the engine/carb is located, and (while stationary) have a third person look closely at the carb and the fuel line to see if it's a visible leak when there are two riders on the bike.

Well I reattached all the tubes and took the carb off and put it back on. I also re did the air and fuel screw. I think that remedied the problem.

Thanks
