Hey KRUSTYburger, what's the story on that "Don't Look Back" sticker? I can't quite make out what the second line says. I ask because there's a famous quote from a baseball player named Satchel Paige that went, "Don't look back, something may be gaining on you!" Satchel was famous for his long, long career in baseball and "Don't look back, something may be gaining on you" was one of his rules for staying young. It also seems so appropriate for a sticker for the back of a scooter that I was really struck by the idea. Okay, I gotta go make a batch of decaf now...

Don't look back!!!

that mudflap extender is like granny underpants, I never put it on.

My Blur:

I'm with you on the mudflap extender - just horrible. Were there another place to put the license plate, I'd ditch that whole mud flap all together. What I've also done since this photo is pull all the orange stick-on stuff off the bike and it looks SO much better. Those side "Blur 150" stickers especially make thing look like you bought it at a fireworks stand. Sans stickers it's a serious-looking machine.

And the Mrs' Buddy:

Yep, I took most of my stickers off, too. I put my own on the sides.

Sportbike people always find ways to ditch that tail extender, but they're not usually 100% legal. I photoshopped it out a while back to see what it'd look like, and it looks great, but I'm not gonna mount my plate sideways on my airbox or anything, I'm cool with how it is. Plus I have my city plate mounted on there, too.

At least the turn signals are integrated nicely and not sticking out on stalks.

Yeah I really don't get why DOT made Genuine put those nasty front tack-on turn signals on the Buddy but the Blur got away without doing the same. They're at pretty much the same height.

I'm going to make up a set of my own side graphics for it, something low-key that does denote it as a Blur, but in a less "buy one get three free" sort of way.

I think it is not the height, but the spacing in between them that dictates when you have to add some extra ones further apart from each other.

ha, yeah. The smaller 'metal' logo on the newer ones is better. P.J. Chmiel designed all that stuff, and he's a fantastic designer, but that was not his proudest moment. I actually attribute a very large portion of Genuine's success to their design and marketing, and specifically P.J.'s Buddy and Stella identities, so maybe the slow sales of the Blur can be blamed somewhat on design, too. I love the colors (both years) a lot, but the graphics were ho-hum. Which is cool with me, I like it better without a ton of graphics.

PGO's graphics were horrible, until the current red/white model, which I kinda like:

Aruntoo,
I think we need to see some side (both sides) pics as well to see how that chop job turned out along with the new pipe, tire, suspension and whatever else you have done. :D

Hey, gang,
We've been reading on MB most of the winter in preparation of our new old model 2006 pink Buddy 125 that was delivered to our door just over a week ago. Thanks to all the great folks on MB we already had our accessories waiting to add to the scoot and directions printed out to do upgrade mods. I've only been able to take the Buddy out 3 times in between spring snow storms here in the upper plains.
One of those rides happened because my adult son stopped by and wanted to show his girlfriend the scooter with the accessories on it. He drives a stock '02 Mustang that has a Cobra GT body kit on it with a t-top mod (maybe an engine tuner). I know from riding with him that it usually gets looks from everyone. Well, he followed me on the Buddy in his car over to where his girlfriend works. When we arrived there 10 minutes later we parked nose to nose and he jumps out and goes, "Mom, that stinks - people were watching your pink scooter instead of my cool car." I about split my jacket zipper laughing about his poor ego.

Ha, great story. I have the same problem when my wife and I ride our scooter together. Somehow, that makes her pink Buddy even more prominent, like, "Look at those scooters—oh, look at the PINK one!"

How are you guys able to get stickers to stick to the textured plastic of the mud flap?

I bought one of the circle "I" stickers (like the ones that come on the '08 Internationals) for my Italia and though it was a good quality vinyl sticker, it just wouldn't adhere very well.

Tips???

twharton,
nice BUTT !. The chrome from the rach adds just the right amount of bling !

Joe,
try this. Clean the are with alcohol and let it air dry, then do it again. As soon as it is dry the second time apply the decal. Don't touch (specially with your fingers) the area with anything else other than the decal.

SScooterG,

I got brackets from Scoot Richmond. Here's the link for the part...

http://www.scootrichmond.com/product_in ... ts_id/5279

Mirror Bracket, Left or Right - Vespa post 1965
[Scoot Richmond Part Number: V01-402]
$4.99 ea.

Those links and prices may have changes as it's been two years. There's some other links if you search from when I did the mod awhile ago and lots more pics. You should be able to find it but let me know if you can't.

Thanks

I bought those reflective address-number stickers from my hardware store, the smallest size available was like one inch.

And how did you remove the mud flap without having problems mounting the license plate light? Did you chop it? I've considered that, but would prefer my mods to be relatively reversible.

If anyone doesn't really want to buy a new exhaust, a little sandpaper and a rattle can of barbecue black paint is good for at least a year. If you really want a nice finish, lightly sand and put on a second coat and hit with 0000 steel wool. Or not. Heck, just an even coat is good. Works great.
