Come on guys...he was using alliteration with "Moped Madness"
High gas prices propel a new 'moped madness'
Scooters and mopeds see a rise in sales - and cachet - thanks in part to a youth energy ethic.

Funny, this story is about 2 years old but similar stories have been popping up in various media in the past couple of months. Gas is now over $4/gal for regular at some L.A. stations. Guh.

They are just uninformed, let us inform them! PS- i saw a guy on an Awesome Moped (yes it was a moped) Most mopeds Ive seen look old and ugly, but this guy had one of those cruising bicycles and it had a motor on it, it looked quite comfortable and awsome and he was going like 25mph. (and it was nice to see him wearing a proper helmet too)

That story's two years old, there was one in the CSM last month that was pretty well-written and much more up-to-date:

I remember we were discussing it in the Vespa S thread because of the illustration (which shows the scooter in a totally wrong proportion to the rider)

"
In fact, the tattered denim jackets and faux toughness of moped enthusiasts are boldly tongue-in-cheek, open invitations to small-bore envy. While the age of the average scooter owner has nearly doubled in the past five years to over 40, cultural experts credit mopeds' acceptance to the cachet of the kids, who often travel in packs"
who here is wearing "tattered denim" ?

There actually are some beautiful mopeds out there. I like the Motobecanes wit the saddle bags...
