Italia with brown seat.

Post by PTB »

I put mine down after having it less than 48 hours. I actually hit an oil spill. I kid you not--right out of a roadrunner cartoon. I was fine. Raspberry on my ankle. Bike had a lot of broken/cracked plastic. Headset/bezel was pretty much destroyed.

Anyway, as long as it was in for repairs, I got a new seat and grips. Here's how it looks now.

Man, the Italia looks SO MUCH better that way. Every time I see one I want to do the same thing.

I think I still prefer the grey seat but the stripes were a nice touch. Glad you remembered to match the grips.

Nice. I was thinking about doing this with my Italia. I'd be really interested to see ALL the brown parts from an orange Buddy moved over to an Italia. Has anyone ever seen this?

Very impresive PTB! :D

I just got my wife an Italia for her birthday. I'm working on putting on the brown seat and grips, but I can't figure out how to remove the old grips. What's the secret?

Razor blade, but I assume you are trying to keep them in one piece.

On bicycles we used to blow them off the handlebars with an air compressor. I am not sure the buddy handlebar is one piece so this may not work. Most grips have a small hole on the end that the air compressor nozzle would fit into.

Most people just cut off old grips. I hear the key to putting new ones on is to use hairspray. Huh!

The Italia does look better with the brown seat and grips. I've been wanting to do that to mine. Thanks for the picture. I've changed the mat out on mine to a black one and it looks good. The Prima exhaust is great also for any of you who were wondering. It sounds so much better! Performance isn't that drastic.
