Last night, I rode wing with a tangerine 125 down Ft. Lowell Rd. from Alvernon Rd. down to Country Club Rd., where they turned north. Don't know if the rider knew they had a wing man; kept adjusting lane position to maintain stagger and left them a couple of car lengths of lead. Moved left to pass as they signalled for the turn and gave a friendly two-toot with the horn.

The rider had a 3/4 helmet and red low-tops, the bike had a ScootOver license plate surround.

If you're on MB, Hi! :D
At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...

Seriously...I've lost count...

07 Italia 125

Post by MYSCTR »

This past weekend (ok it took a few days to post this) I went through the parking lot at the running store at Eldorado & Lake Forest and spotted what looked to be our first Italia - a 2007 125. Scoot looked good - should have stopped to find the owners and say hello yet was gone in a flash before I thought about it!

I saw a white Stella next door at the bar Dig in Park Circle, North Charleston at around 1 am. It was nice seeing a Stella next to all the Harleys.

Saw a white Buddy 125 in Poulsbo, WA on Lindvog and 305 this afternoon. It looked so small! (In a good way!) Smaller than mine. Maybe it shrank, such a damp day to be riding...

Buddy is a great looking scoot!!

First buddy sightings in my area! One was a buddy international italia (green) parked in the lot next to Chuze Fitness on Walker and Ball in Cypress, CA. The other one was a tangerine buddy 125 parked on the sidewalk outside a Babys R Us on Kraemer and Imperial in Brea, CA. Good looking scooters!

I can't believe this thread still has some activity! That's awesome!

Anyways, today I was leaving Saugus Café in Saugus, CA and right as I was about to pull out onto traffic, I saw a rather questionable-looking thug on a seafoam Buddy. He probably stole it and rode it. (I'm lying, he wasn't a thug, but it did look like he was riding it like he stole it).

Incidently enough, he was coming from the west on Railroad Avenue so he might've been getting his Buddy tricked out by Kott Motorcycles (just kidding?).

Best to all
I wanted a scooter; ended up buying a motorcycle instead.

Thursday morning, 7:45 am at the local Ace Hardware shop here in Paradise, CA. Went to get some 2x6 lumber to build a planter box. Heard a voice saying "I knew I would see you here." It was the fellow I sold my blue 125 Buddy to two weeks before. He had tricked her out with an LED vertical light on the carrier, and installed an inflation kit for the tires in the pet carrier. Even put an analog clock on the windshield. Glad to see she found a home that appreciated her.

And if you want to meet half the scooterists in PA, come to the TMISC Meltdown in August (don't wait to get tickets, almost completely booked). There is a rally in Philly this weekend also https://www.facebook.com/events/840144949377187/

There are other scooterists in state college, but I don think there is a club there anymore. You might have to start one.

Think 'old' roads, the local ones or what was there before the big highways were built. Use google maps and select the 'avoid highways' option. Try looking at a paper map!
I've found I can get just about anywhere I'd want staying off the highways. I've ridden from the Harrisburg/Lancaster Pa area to Long Island NY and Bennington VT. Philly from King of Prussia is a piece of cake!

The little grey roads on the maps are you friend. Half the fun of getting somewhere is figuring out how to get there. A half hour on google maps and you can figure out directions to anywhere.

In the west, where there aren't a couple hundred years of old roads, you really can't get there from here on a back road.

A lesson we learned the hard way on the first Cannonball. A lot of times, there was a road on the map, but it wasn't actually there. It was just a vestigial bit of cartography that had been subsumed by the Interstate.

Just got back last night from a 725 mile, 3 day trip on my roughhouse. Went from Port royal PA to Ocean city Md, then Chester Pa and then home. Lots and lots of distractions and random turns to see what was "over there". Honest, you can get anywhere with a 50cc if you want to.

I've been on every interstate in the country at one point or another, and I haven't seen too many exits that don't have a road going somewhere. Or a dirt trail. Or a path. There is always a way (sometimes it's the shoulder of the highway). I didn't say an easy, direct way.

Google maps has a feature where you can choose to "Avoid Highways". It's not always perfect (sometimes it thinks highways/interstates/state roads are/n't inclusive), but most of the time it's great! If you use the Waze app with an earbud in there's an option to avoid highways in the settings>navigation menu as well. Hope this is helpful for your future scootventures!

Houston sighting

Post by wheelbender6 »

I saw a forest green buddy heading east toward I-45 on Allen Parkway today in Houston, piloted by a girl. I was doing some land surveying for a paving job on Allen Parkway. Sorry, no pic.

There's an Italia green Buddy every now and then in the big motorcycle / scooter zone at UC Berkeley- sometimes down at Oxford and Hearst, but mostly up in Physics row, near Gayley Rd.

Found one!

I leashed up my dog, opened my front door, stepped out with her, and BAM! - right there in my very own patio was a super-cool looking multi-strobe wearing
Buddy 50! I was so excited I forget that it was mine.

Just sayin...
