Closing in on 2K

Post by ericalm »

We're almost at 2000 members! That's pretty amazing considering the Buddy (and it's PGO/Genuine cousins) is less than 3 years old.

So #2000 gets a free prize. Uh... I'll come up with something. I have 2 extra TVs in my garage... I don't really NEED this monkey with a fez bobblehead... ;)

And I want more members! I'm greedy. Tell your friends. Spread the word.

You can click on Memberlist and go to the end. And on the front page of the site, at the bottom, is a membership counter.

I am member #20! Wahoo.

Wow... I am #1715 & I joined April 11th... so we have had 264 people join in the last 37 days - thats like 7 new people a day!

Although... we have 731 people who have never posted... wonder if they are still lurking

That's pretty common. I'm registered in many places where i never post or only have once or something like that.

We need to lure some of the lurkers out of hiding.

I've seen google and yahoo bots register on forums before, they can make post too, but all they do is make a blank post.

I've seen spambots post as registered users before. But normally they are porn spam.

I'm number 833 for registered users. I wonder, what's to prevent someone from multiple registering to get the "prize"?

And would this become an official contest?

I'm sure moderators can see IP addresses so they'd know how makes multiple accounts and who doesnt.

Nope. The number we have is purely registered users. Spambots generally can't register because we require email confirmation. If they do get through, they're quickly booted off, their IPs banned.

No, there aren't nearly that many active members. That's true for all forums.

Right... & the fact that we almost have 2,000 registered users (reguardless of if they are all still current) is very impressive.
brimstone wrote:where do you see which member number you are? i know i started march 30th.
Just go to the memberlist... & skip forward in the pages until you find yourself (the members are numbered on the left & the default sort is "joined date" )

Yes that's true, but it can also be from a public or from a large (many) scooter hugging household. :D

Changed my signature to reflect my number.

Dorky, but fun. Cool to know where we fit.

Wouldn't it be great if we had some scooter rally with ALL the members?

AmeriBuddy?

I'd actually love to have a huge gathering of MB members. Maybe we should all start planning now for High Rollers in Vegas next year. Or Amerivespa '09 (wherever that will be).

Or maybe I should just start planning Buddypalooza in LA for next year. (No, I really don't have the time...)

A gathering of members would be WAY cool! But I'd choose someplace centrally located (Mount Rushmore, anyone?) so more people could scoot to attend....

I'm coming up on my 1 year anniversary! Joined on June 14, 2007, Moder Buddy Member #1511 ("MBM number is..." sounds so official). :D

If you see how many of the "members" have zero posts... I'd say there's almost half! Either way, that's a lot of members!

A MODERN BUDDY RALLY WOULD BE BOSS!!!

We could either say meet in a central location where there is some decent riding to be had, or meet where the densest population of Buddies already lives (probably IL/OH area or SoCal). I think option2 would be easiest... However you spin it, most everyone would have to travel. I guess having a state-wide Buddy Rally would be easier huh? C'mon Florida Buddies, LET'S ROLL!!!

We should break 3K by the end of the month unless things really drop off

We added over 1,000 members in under 3 months this summer - wow
